Thoughts on the Giants game.

Post by verm04 »

Well clearly the Giants are not as bad as I thought they were. They played very good defense overall and were able to generate some pass rush with only a few men rushing. Defensively I thought that the Redskins looked very good. We know that the Giants have some offensive fire power; and the Defense held them to 1 for 13 on 3rd downs. That is a great stat. But those turnovers.. Ohh 7 turnovers in that game.. we really did not deserve to win. It is a testiment too the Skins D' that the Giants only won by 6.

Personally I don't feel the skins quaterbacks played all that horribly. Obviously they were guilty at times of horrible judgement and forces throws. However dropped passes really spelled defeat for the team today. Rod Gardners dropped TD pass that ended up causing Ramsey to throw an Int. comes to mind. Overall there was just very sloppy execution by the whole team.

I thought the play calling was pretty good.. i dont understand why they passed the ball when they were down by 6 with 12 minutes left. Personally I would have given the ball to Betts, but hey im not a Hall of Fame football coach either.

In the grand scheme of things it is possible that this loss was good for the team. It exposed to us some of their various flaws and other weaknesses that they can work on going into week three vs the Cowboys. That is a real test for the team. It should be interesting to see how they respond to the lose and see how they perform on the big stage agianst the big rival. What are your thoughts?

We made the Giants look good today. They did nothing spectacular. I do know we should have atleast scored 3 field goals, that would have put us over the top.

yeah, there are many excuses for us today, but really it came down to dropped passes. With all the turnovers, penalties and bad blocking, we still would have won this game handily if Portis, Coles and Gardner caught the balls they should have.

They'll get better.

Let us remember this game in the future to highlight from how far deep in the hole Joe brought this team out in the next few weeks.

It is the second game when more points as a result of our offense than our defense.

Personally I don't feel the skins quaterbacks played all that horribly.

I've got to disagree with the "they stunk" comment. It is rather difficult to isolate the play of a quarterback in a football game. Yes they made some very bad plays, and i felt like PR held the ball for too long at times(of course I could not see downfeild) . But when players drop wide open psases that really effects the momentum and the confidence of the offense. I suppose all I am saying if that if the wide outs had done their job most people wouldnt be saying that the quarterbacks were doing so poorly.

Brunell and Ramsey stunk. Gardner stunk. Portis stunk. The OL stunk. The whole offense stunk once the tough got going.

I suppose one can try to find individual bright spots. But I am not in a mood to cheer for a good block or a good catch. A game is played from beginning to end. It was painful but it is better to acknowledge it and start from there than make excuses for some of them.

I love Joe Gibbs and I'm not going to second guess him. It just eats my lunch that we gave away a game we shoulda, coulda, oughtta have won. The offense wasn't good enough to beat Helen Keller School for the Blind, though. They made enough mistakes to lose 2 games, but still almost won in spite of themselves. Hats off to the defense. They played lights out football in the 2nd half, but the QB situation is troubling to say the least. My opinion is Ramsey should be the starter. Brunell's looked pathetic for 2 games running now. Ramsey, at least proved he's capable of moving the offense.

Hopefully, we'll take out our frustrations on Dallas next week. I'm fed up with losing to those SOBs.

we played horrible, flat out. bad choices by the QB, fumbles, dropped passes, giving up 3rd downs. only bright spot was at least in the 2nd half our Defense performed.

i don't understand why hall was the only kicker active. i think kimrin should have been in uniform. hall is too important to lose in the first couple games. he should have been resting.
