MADDEN 2005, WORST FOOTBALL GAME EVER...

EA has lost a customer. Heres a link to a post in another forum that I visit. There you can find the problem that Im refferring as it is too much to cover. http://boards.ign.com/Madden_NFL/b5973/67276848/p1

I'm returning my copy of Madden for the simple fact that this franchise has grown stagnant. I was salivating over an improved Madden and I actually recieved a game that is worse than the one it replaces. I don't know if anyone of you play on "all-madden" but the game is totally unrealisitc.

Things I've noticed.

1. Lavar Arrington cannot cover Mike Alstott step for step down the field.
2. C. Portis, I got 36 yds of rushing from against the Cowboys, while Ahmad Green got 177 yds in 36 attempts.
3. Defensive ESP. The CPU knows your plays and will shift everytime to the side you are running to. Ive come out in a 4 WR just to have the Cowboys come out in a 46 knowing it was a draw to Clinton.
5. This year was "the year of the defense" that is completely false, they just dumbed down the offense.

I'm glad that I purchased ESPN this year. I for one hope that EA gets all kinds of bad publicity thru this petition and ESPN gets some credit. They put out a flawed product also but you can see where they are striving for excellence and the game is so much more polished. EA has gotten lazy and complacent and I hope that they fall on their faces for it.

i WAS a long time MADDEN player until about three yeears ago when i noticed that the game was changing but not enough to really get excited about anymore .... i've played this years version and to me it's the same old madden just spiced up a little.E.S.P.N. football is not without it's flaws but in the direction this game is going i'll be buying it for years too come. REDSKINZ4EVER !!!!!

Here we go with the vendettas again. Most people who have trouble playing Madden and find it to be 'hard' will most likely sign this stupid crap. Every year, every video game this same crap happens. All the Conjectors just come out of the closet when this mess is organized. Madden is King. Dont complain to EA Complain to the NFL players who have complained for years that Madden is to easy. They are who Madden gets most of their input from. Sorry guys this is crap and I aint just saying that because evrybody at the Madden message boards are saying the same. If you dont like it trade it in for Nascar or something but just stop hating because things dont go your way on a freakin video game. Peace.

i agree with you that madden is a great football game...don't get me wrong but ESPN is right there with it .... with out a doubt !!! like i said before i've played it since the beginning and after a while the game just seemed to be pretty much the same every year ! :wink:

........I hear this complaint from time to time and know one knows waht they want. Its a football game what more do yo want?

Whats good about Madden is it is fully controllable. I mean you can make the defense better or worst and samething with offense. If you dont like the way it comes packaged, mess around with the sliders and make the game 'easy' the way you want to.

my complaint is nothing to do with the game play i can play my ass off( on madden ) no problems just got tried of the same old game and i'll feel the same about ESPN football if they don't improve on somethings such as .... the lame announcers why don't they have joe theisman and dan patrick calling the game.they have two no name people calling the game.
as for the game play this game can be too easy on the first setting so i put it up one notch and i pretty much can do whatever i want on this setting too going through the whole season to start play on the next to the hardest level, and so on .

WOW! Your complaint is about the announcers in the game? Just by the from NFL films cd and listen while you play Madden?

Yes the announcers do get repetitive at times, but thats with anything in life, once you get tired of it. :shock:

He talks a good game but has always been a NO SHOW when he says he'll play me. You have no place to talk about me, how i play, what time of gamer I am. 1st of all I've challenged you NUMEROUS times just to have you never show up. Numerous times... That goes to show what type of person you are. THis thread had nothing to do with you, but you must go and talk about me as a gamer.

I can play my tail off, but this problems arent small problems. I know most people won't agree, or take 2 seconds to get off of EA's coattails to second guess the game.

Skinz4ever, at least you know what I mean. The gameplay is stale. For a game that says its realistic, its far from it. I doubt RedSkincity even has 2005.

The last version I purchased before this year was '2002. Other than the hit stick and bloated save file I don't see a lot of improvement in gameplay. Running the ball, even on lower settings, is a lot tougher than it used to be. I had to turn up run blocking incredibly high to get anything past two yards a carry, and I never had a problem with the run blocking in 2002.

Exactly. GF, if you were to play this years Madden you would go crazy. We have a good offensive line in Madden and you cannot run the ball. Yea people say that "you need to find the correct angle where the AI's collision detection won't pick u up". Someone on a board said that, and he's right, thats how you have to do it.

I don't know if you guys get to listen to the old Skins announcers during the preseason but they talked about sealing off the end during the games. In Madden doesn't happen, a run play to the right will result in someone from the left breaking it up in the backfield. At least 5 times a game Ramsey gets sacked in the backfield before the handoff can take place.

The game is just terrible. The only reason I have kept it is because Im in an online league and its a GREAT place. Nice upstanding guys who like to play fair and as realistic as possible. Id hate to leave because of a crappy game, its hard to find gamers who are TRUE TO THEIR WORD. :roll:

It's led me to develop my own playbook. So far I've got one formation, but it's got Two TEs to the right, one a step in the backfield and a FB offset to the right. It's been tough coming up with running plays that don't involve a pitch to the HB, but it's been picking up tons of yards in practice.

A few people I've talked to have said it's much easier if you direct the blockers, but I'd much rather use a power back and plow on through. The blocker I want to control is rarely the one that moves.

I've noticed myself directing my full back a lot more often also. The blockers always seem to never block the nearest defender, they skip the LB and go for the 2ndary.

GF, I think I'll trade Clinton Portis after this season, I need a Stephen Davis type back, that was when I loved playing Madden. That man was a monster and fit into my gameplay style, run to setup the pass. Passing is so hit or miss in madden that its hard to pass to setup the run. Also its too easy for defenders in a Dime package to stop a run in the Iformation in Madden.

What really bugs me is the over-the-top ratings for every player. Having someone rated in the 90s should mean something. This year every starter is 90 or better. A 99 should be a game changer, not just another guy.

I mean, how the hell am I supposed to set a new rushing record with a rookie rated 79 now?!

Yea, I had better stuff to do then play you in Madden. I actually have a life, a g/f you know things other than my PS2 to keep me company late at night. If you knew ANYTHING about Madden then you'd know that unranked games don't show up on ur record so most of my games aren't even counted. My online league uses unranked games. O, but Im lying about that right? :roll:

Regardless, there was a night that you said you'd meet me online and never showed up. Unlike you I had the DECENCY to not have you waiting and told you I wouldn't make it.
