PFT:FINS DON'T WANT TO PLAY

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

FINS DON'T WANT TO PLAY

A league source tells us several members of the Miami Dolphins do not want to go to New Orleans for the final preseason contest, given the impending arrival of Hurricane Frances. The players understandably don't want to bail on their families as virtually all of the state makes like a shepherd and gets the flock out of Florida.

The NFL, we're told, is putting pressure on the Fins to get their guys to Looziana for the preseason game, notwithstanding the impending arrival of the biggest storm since Andrew in 1992.

Stay tuned. This one could get ugly as the NFL and the players dig in their heels -- and as Saints owner Tom Benson tries to ensure he'll be able to keep his box-office windfall for a meaningless game. We're told that a final decision will be made late Thursday or early Friday.

Dolphins | Travel Plans Remain Status Quo…For Now - from www.KFFL.com

MiamiDolphins.com reports Miami Dolphins' president Eddie Jones said despite the looming threat of Hurricane Francis, the team plans to proceed as scheduled with its travel plans for the final preseason game Friday, Aug. 3, against the New Orleans Saints, as long as the trip is deemed safe. "At this point we are still planning to depart for New Orleans at 9 a.m. [Friday, Sept. 3] morning, but it is a fluid situation," Jones said. "We are monitoring the progress of the storm, and in our consultations with the Saints and the NFL, the safety of our players, staff and their family members remains a priority. We will certainly make the appropriate advisements if our travel plans change."
