LOL, yeah, that was pretty bad. Especially when Javier Vasquez said "He thought he had pretty good stuff" after giving up 6 runs in an inning in a third. Your Sox are 3-1/2 back now and the two teams play each other like 6 more times if I am not mistaken. Could come down to the wire. Since my Orioles stink, I am hoping for a good race between these two for the AL - East title.

yes, it is espescially gratifying after everyone was saying that the a.l. east title was a lock when the sox were down 11 1/2 games. as a sox fan, i am fully expecting the sox to play kick ass ball for three weeks, then blow it in a 10 game losing streak at the end of the season. such is the way of the universe.

Man, I was about to post this!
I thought it was hilarious. This couldn't have happened to a more deserving team. I guess the "curse of the squirrel" still lingers.

Yankees Pummel Indians: 9-1
http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/sports/ ... nkees.html
http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/sports/ ... nkees.html
NEW YORK (AP) -- That record-setting defeat appears to have stirred up the Yankees. Gary Sheffield had three RBIs to reach 100 for the seventh time, Alex Rodriguez hit a three-run homer and Jon Lieber pitched seven shutout innings to lead New York to its second straight win, 9-1 over the Cleveland Indians on Thursday night.
With its AL East lead over second-place Boston cut to 3 1/2 games from 10 1/2 on Aug. 16, the Yankees have faced a torrent of questions this week, especially following Tuesday night's 22-0 loss to the Indians. The Yankees rebounded with a 5-3 victory Wednesday, then quickly broke on top Thursday when Jorge Posada hit an RBI single in the first and Rodriguez hit his 33rd homer to cap a five-run second against Cliff Lee (10-7).

Don't waste your time, when you like 1 team and have to root for another, that's pretty sad. Their you all go acting like you won the WS, because the Yankees lost 22-0. We have 26 WS championships & we're the BEST franchise in ALL of sports (tied with the Redskins), this isn't my opinion either, it's a fact! Whether we win this year or not, next year we'll fix the problems and win it then. Everyone else needs to hope they can keep their team together. We need to stop worrying about each other, because whoever has to face St.Louis in the WS, will have their hands full! I'll tell you 1 more thing, Boston is streaking way too early! You better hope they don't get tired at the wrong time, you know, like they do every year.

You're totally wrong, I wasn't even going to respond to this.

NY Yankees 0 0 0 3 0 4 1 1 9 18 19 0
Toronto 1 2 1 0 0 0 0 2 0 6 9 0
Did you here me running my mouth this game????? Nope cause it doesn't mean anything, except our bat were on fire that game!
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E
New York 0 0 0 0 8 0 6 3 1 18 21 1
Baltimore 0 0 3 0 0 0 0 0 2 5 14 1
Did this game matter????? Nope, but at least it was my Yankees that beat theses teams up. I would never have the guts to brag to a Baltimore or Boston fan about Cleveland beating them!!! That's really pathetic of all of you!
Hey Jake, if the Redskins have a losing record this year, what team are you going to jump on the "Band Wagon" with???? I don't think the Orioles scored 22 runs on us all season, LOL.
I'm done responding to this pathetic post, we'll see Boston in the playoffs (something you Baltimore fans can only dream of), the only good thing in Baltimore is Lee Mazelli (and we all know why), as far as Boston (actually Baltimore too), we've been DOMINATING you every year since 1996 (more facts), even IF we don't win it all, we OWN both teams!
Take care everyone! Have fun watching us on TV (Fox, I think)! Here comes the Babe, he always has our back!

Ok Ant I was just giving you a hard time! It was a joke and I'm sorry you didn't take it that way!
We've been down this road before, about the Yankees and the Orioles, have we not??
And I agree the bandwagon thing was uncalled for. If Jake were a bandwagon fan, he'd have left the Redskins and the Orioles in the dust years and years ago. We all know in the Spurrier era, it would have been easier to NOT be a fan.

Relax everyone, it's all for fun! We can love each other as Redskins fans, but we can all hate each other for baseball & whatever other sport, GO Knicks, LOL!
Jake if you took that personal....sorry (but I was breaking chops)!
As far as the "bangwagon" comment, if someone likes 1 team & cheers for another.....it is what it is! I want Boston to lose, but I won't cheer for the team playing them (especially a team in the same division).

A few things.
At least the O's scored more than 0 runs that game.

So I'm a bandwagon jumper now? That proves you don't know anything about me. I've been a Skins fan my WHOLE life. Literally, more than half of the people that know who I am know me as being "the really big Redskin fan." And look at my join date on this board. August of 2003... that was even before our 5-11 season started. If I was a bandwagon rider, do you think I'd still be here?
Yankees fans are the biggest bandwagon fans in the world. Half of the entire Yankees fan base would not be fans if they didn't win as much as they did. Those are the biggest bandwagon fans in the world. You see all of those celebs and rappers wearing Yankees hats all the time? Yeah, I do too, but we all know they don't give a rats ass about the Yanks.
You may have been joking but you pushed the wrong button when you called me a band wagon fan. My class ring doesn't say Seahawks (our mascot) on it, it says Redskins. That's just one of MANY, MANY examples of my loyalty to this team.
And I have pictures to prove my loyalty. Remember this thread? I know you saw it.

Thank you very much !

It does however present a problem when they are division games - that's when I wish both teams could lose.

My point was Cleveland beat us not the O's and non-Cleveland fan are excited about it! When the O's beat us 22-0, we'll finish this conversation, it really doesn't matter!
I never question you being a Redskins fan, I said IF the Skins have a bad record are you going to start cheering for another team.
As far as being a member here, I was here since July 2003, the 55 member, you were the 194, whats your point??? Actually I was talking to BH for alot longer, cause I couldn't post (I was using AOL). Please, please Jake don't bring up Spurrier anymore, I almost puked!
I can't speak for any other Yankee fans, I know I'm not a "bandwagon jumper" and it ain't my fault that we have so many fans.
I like the Skins, Yankees, Knicks (I'll admit they (the knicks not Yankees) suck) & the NY hockey teams (I'm not the biggest hockey fan, but I'll watch the playoffs.

Sadly, nobody told the Indians that 22 runs was about all they'd score for the entire series. Yankees win the next night, and the rubber match.
Huh. Was that one win more beneficial to the Indians, who post a symbolic "1"(which will utimately prove useless) in the Win column, or to the Yankees, who needed to get a fire lit under them to avoid complacency ?
Believe me. There isn't a true Yankee fan out there beating his wife and dog over that loss. It's one game, and not really indicative of anything.
Sorry, kids. It's gonna be Boston and the Yanks again in the AL Championship.
How's that, Ant ?

I remember now when I got off the Gus Bus...
It will be an interesting September. And Brown insists he will not miss a start.
But the Yankees do not understand how Brown, who is 39 years old, thought it was suitable to punch a clubhouse wall last night because he was frustrated after twisting his left knee and getting drilled on the right forearm with a single. So Brown, who the angry Yankees must feel is 39 going on 9, let his fingers taste the cement on a forgettable Friday night at Yankee Stadium.
I remember now when I got off the Gus Bus...
At least Brown, a right-handed pitcher, used his left hand. At least Brown called himself stupid for fracturing the third and fifth metacarpals in his hand. At least Brown was dejected about something besides his pitching after a 3-1 loss to the Baltimore Orioles made the Yankees nervous about their place in the American League East and perturbed with their pitcher.
"It's an issue we shouldn't be dealing with," General Manager Brian Cashman said, "and we are."
Cashman and Manager Joe Torre were disappointed in Brown for what they surely considered an immature move. The first-place Yankees have seen their lead over the Boston Red Sox shrink from 10½ games to 2½ in less than three weeks, so they do not have time for nonsense.
It will be an interesting September. And Brown insists he will not miss a start.
