Does anyone know....?

Post by Justice Hog »

I posted a similar message like this a little while ago...but I'd like to get some feedback from you.

Many injured players do not go with the team on road games. Why is this? I would think that the team would want "everyone" (injured and non-injured) to go to every game. If you can't play...at least you can be there to cheer on your team...and maybe give some advice to people that are playing.

My question: Why don't these players go?

They most likely are getting various treatments/therapies at the Redskins complex in Ashburn, VA.

It's a coach's preference, some teams take injured guys, some don't.

A lot of it has to do with roster size this time of year. With so many players on the team right now, the fewer non-participants on the sidelines the better just from a logistical standpoint.

You see almost every player travel to the fianl pre-season game when it's away.
This space reserved for BTP......If he ever wins it.

If you have even a minor leg injury, what is the point of getting on an airplane, sitting in those seats, and going through the whole hassel of traveling? If the goal is to get healed as soon as possible, then I think staying home is the best idea.

The idea that everyone needs to be there, in my opinion, isn't as important in the pros as it is in high school. These guys are professionals, and the benefits of having all your guys there is outweighed by the hassel of having guys who need to be healing traveling...

Excellent point! Its all about the "healing process" and getting it resolved without setbacks or anything that will agrivate it. Traveling even takes it tole on healthier players and a lot of coaches prefer to have them stay at home or with the doctor's and medical staff they trust most.
I have travelled the net and found the Redskins promise land. This is, by far, the best site out there for Redskins/NFL News, Notes, Opinions, and so much more.

And also the pressure changes involved in flying can wreak havoc on a knee injury or any other area where surgery has been performed.

Your posts make sense to me now...and I am more comfortable with players stayin' put. This was just a little issue that was bugging me so I thought I'd throw it out there for other opinions. Thanks for the opinions, folks.

JH,

I think, and this is just my opinion, that they don't make the trip in order to preserve the continuity of their treatment. So, in order to adhere to a strict rehabilitation regimen, I think that that's the reason they don't make the trip with the team.

Also, I have a feeling there's money involved in the real reason. I'm sure it has something to do with how their contracts are written.

Just my opinion!!
Sit back and watch the Redskins.

SOMETHING MAGICAL IS ABOUT TO BEGIN!
