The Dolphins

Post by John Manfreda »

Everyone talks about how great this is. I hope people don't get carried away because remember even though we dominated them, this is the Dolphins and they are a putried team. They also had a lot of injuries in the secondary to boot. We also had injuries in our linebacking core though. They did look good, but I hope everyone remembers we played a putried team. By the way remember when everyone was worried about Taylor being a holdout. Yeah that was pretty funny.

miami - lost starting receiver (Boston) - lost starting running back (williams)- no o-gun = not very good. I don't think people should think we really are that great after we beat the fins cuz they are toatally decimated. That game did not really mean much...But it was fun to watch.

We shouldn't make excuses for them .... Jacksonville fans were saying the same thing last week After losing to the Dolphins 16-5 in Jacksonville

Prior to losing Boston and Williams the Dolphins were one of the most talented teams in the league. The loss of those two players takes away a huge chunck of their offensive talent, however, it their defense which keeps them in games. They have a tremendous amount of talent on Defense.

This team is by no means putrid.

Still, its just a preseason game.

I think you can get excited about this win. Think about it, we played Carolina (just removed from the superbowl) and didn't look great, but they didn't show much against us either. Then we play a team like the Dolphins (which really is decimated) but we beat them soundly.

My point is that for the last couple of years the Skins haven't shown that they will beat bad teams and can compete against really good teams. That is the key to success in this league full of parity. Beat the teams you are supposed to and compete and maybe beat the really good teams...

That formula will get you in the playoffs.... this was a very good sign fellas..............

I agree, Chico. That is why I am predicting an 11-5 season for us this year. Gibbs will not lose against the poorer teams we will face, and he will finish .500 or better against the rest.

Agreed, the Dolphins almost introduced Smell-a-Vision to my HD TV. Whew! They really stink!

Think of it like this... we stayed with the Panthers throughout the game. Yeah, we lost and we could have (should have) won. But at least we weren't blown out.

And on Saturday, we beat a team we should have beaten in the first place. Their offense is anemic and we allowed 0 points. The best part is that we cut down on fumbles and mental mistakes, which is great no matter who we play.

So there are as many positives as there are negatives, John. You've gotta look at those, too.

Regardless of the opposition, they are starting to look like the Redskins. They haven't for more than 10 years...but things are starting to look familiar...No, this isn't 1992, and how old is Jeff Bostic now? But we can see discipline and toughness and precision coming back, along with all this new energy.

A renewed Joe Gibbs and staff: this is fun. Just a glimpse, a TV shot of Bugel on the left, Gibbs looking serious in the middle, and Don Breaux on the right...
