Def poetry

Post by BossHog »

When Taz and I were in Ohio last week, we had the good fortune to actually not be doing anything for half an hour when the show Def Poetry came on.

We do not get this show in Canada, so it was the first time that we had the opportunity to see the show. I'm in to poetry... and I like a little bit of freestyle, so I figured I'd dig the show.

Just didn't know how much until we watched it.

Man, there was some serious rhymes, and some serious emotion.

I'm glad I checked out the show... I only wish I could watch it all the time. I said to Taz when it was over... wow... it's not very often that a 1/2 hour TV show makes you think so much.

I'd highly recommend checking out the show if you haven't already seen it. (I presume it's just a regular show is it?)

One line I heard that won't leave my head...

"Freedom is the gap between the trigger and your finger."

Deep stuff.

Write poetry? I don't write poetry; however, I've written about 16 songs/lyrics. Does that count?

I used to write poetry when I was an angsty teen. Now that I look back at it, I only wrote one thing that was half-decent.
I got your number. I steal your thunder. I got your mother's maiden name tattooed on my arm.

Yeah -- it was just incredible stuff. I was so disappointed that it was only ½ hour. :( It was over so soon! I kept flipping the channels for the next 10 minutes, hoping to find it on another channel! [-o< Obviously it wasn't. Nothing else seemed worth watching after Def Poetry.

How do we get this in Canada?????? :hmm:

Ok, here is something I wrote. Its strictly metaphorical so please read the entire writing before jumping to conclusions.
I don't think Im all that great, I just enjoy writing.
===============================================================

But baby i'mma roll u, a dime to me, so evenly imma spread u out, lick u and wrap u up, to dine in ur hazy reality imagery.

Baby i'mma smoke you. put u to my lips, and inhale ur love so deeply that u can't help but to light urself and encourage me to stroke your slenderness, puffing on ur goodness.

holding u so gently with my fingers, yet so firmly not to let u linger, no one can hit this but me, baby i c u burning, ashes fallen but there's no mourning.

Held thoughts, mind melts as pain fades ur smoke engulfs my lungs. enters my blood, streams to my brain to bring a reality so full of pain when it comes to its end. I do it again, take another to not let this love be in its end.

Addicted, its conflicting with my religion, drugs are bad but u got me feigning. i can't give u up, i need ur nicotine visions. I need ur slender body wrapped in my retention.

All of my attention devoted in caressing your narrow cylindrical dimensions, i can't help but to inhale erratically, hoping not too exceed your love filled capacity.

My goal is almost arrived, highness I am, my chests' rise, my pain subsides

I like it.... not what i was expecting... but definetly well thought out and could hold a vast array of different meanings.... Now one question.... when your saying it to yourself.... and don't take any offense, just trying to get a since of how you want it comming across... Do you say it more with an R. Kelly tone... or Snoop Dogg....?

Houz of Pain by Waterboy

Across the middle, KW2 goes down
He writhes in pain, he's been clowned
Hit by the Mack truck disguised as a man
Sean Taylor, #36, outta Miami, you understand?
The Soldier bumped his gums and ran away with the money
Soldia, shoulda stuck to your guns cuz yo' agony ain't too funny!
The stretcher folks haul your sorry self away
Cuz you thought you could go over the middle today!

Troof.

Feel the love?

Man... I only write poetry when I go to that dark place that I don't want anyone to see or know... I would never be able to put much of it out there...

however... I did write a little verse for the Redskins Legends Flash animation that I'm working on for the new history section...

Many men have worn the Redskin colors,
and worn them with esteem...
From the men who take the field each week,
To the men who've owned the team.

Some of these men stand above the rest,
Their dedication, their loyalty, their pain.
We salute these Redskin legends, who have...
Burgundy blood coarsing through their veins.

My wife and I have been watching it for years. There was one lady last season that literally brought us both to tears (i'll admit it :-)). I love that show. I was psyched when the new season started this year.

I write but I have trouble showing anyone my work. Maybe some day I'll do something with it.

I remember that guy! He was good. There's a couple repeat performers this season from years past. One of the guest appearances recently was Doug E Fresh and KRS-One together.

KRS-ONE is deep, really deep, he makes all people think. Russell Simons knows how to reach the people. I love Russell Simmons. Not in the gay sorta way, (even though there is nothing wrong with that), but in the mentor kinda way...LOL
