Fox Sports: Team Report

Team Report

QB Mark Brunell hasn't been spectacular so far in camp, but he has been solid, showing a good command of the offense, recognizing defenses quickly and throwing accurately. He also still is mobile enough to roll away from pressure and get to the corner.

RB Clinton Portis is everything the team hoped, showing quickness and the ability to squeeze through the smallest holes. He has excellent vision, cuts sharply and is a home run threat because of his outstanding speed. Portis didn't catch a ton of passes in Denver but has good hands, and the team plans to take advantage by throwing to him a lot.

Rookie OL Jim Molinaro has the size and quickness to play tackle but also can play guard. His footwork and use of his hands are improving. He won't be a factor early, but he could help later in the year.

Rookie OLB Billy Strother is extremely mobile and gets to the ball quickly. He still has a ways to go to make the team, but his speed and agility give him a chance, especially if he can contribute heavily on special teams.

PROBLEM SPOT: The defensive line remains a concern, and DE Phillip Daniels' abdomen injury isn't helping. The team has had to blitz to get any kind of pressure on the quarterback. This might work for a while, but it won't disguise the problems all season. Blitzing also is riskier this year because the team no longer has shutdown CB Champ Bailey. There also are concerns about the line's ability to stop the run.

If the first few plays of Mondays game are an indication of our run D then I am kinda scared :(

Q. Griffin had some 46 yards on 6 carries. I know Denver says it's the system not the running back but our guys were making Griff look like Portis out there. I hope that was just base preseason D. I hope

One thing that everyone forgets is that we have a few guys who arnt playing on Defense that are supposed to be real solid guys. If they can just get better then we'll know what we're dealing with.
