Jake's First Day....

Post by SkinsChic »

Well, Jake started work today....he's been going for like an hour a day training for the past couple days but today...he's actually there for 5 or 6 hours.....working !!! He's even got a uniform and everything....complete with nametag....woo hoo !! And...no...it doesn't say "Junior Hog" (I think he tried though). Looking forward to seeing how he liked it when he gets home....Just thought I'd keep everyone updated on his venture out into the world... \:D/

Glad to hear all is going well for the young "Hogwalker" (starwars, anyone?). Congratulations on your young man's entry into the workforce.

So this of course means that Junior Hog will be bringing the ice cream to training camp, right?

I started off the day by baking four strips of bacon. That was actually sort of fun. I was there for 4 1/2 hours today... and I'm pooped. Standing all day and moving dishes... all day. Yes, I know 4 1/2 hours isn't a day but it feels like it. Tommorow and Friday, I'll probably be in there for 5 1/2. I have to walk to and from work, which is also tiring in July. Breaking boxes isn't part of the job description of dishwashing but I did that.

I'm glad I'm making money, though. The people there are pretty cool. I'm getting used to it.

You'll get used to it. When I was washing dishes at the old field inn, i had to make all the desserts while I was trying to keep up with the dishes, along with all the janitorial duties that come with the job. It all works out on payday brother!

Just want to offer my condolences on you gettnig a job. I know you probably tried to put it off as long as possible - I would have pushed for after college, but hey, sometimes you get sucked in and what are you going to do.

You are tho, now "making bacon" (no nasty thoughts please), so at least you won't go hungry.

We look forward to all the scraps you can sneak out for us during camp.

See you then.

Make sure to wear comfortable shoes, maybe some cross trainers. Standing for several hours a day, over an extended period of time (like remainder of summer), can be harmful to your joints. Some might even say it's torture. (but don't go asking Mr. Rumsfeld  )

We need you at 100% to be able to keep up at Training Camp.

Hey Jake congrats on the first day. I also have to stand for long periods of time at my job but it's in one spot. You never really get used to it but Advil, good shoes and streching out your back all helps.

Well I can't speak for the other fogies, but I'm sure the young lad won't have any trouble keeping up with me.

Most days, we the staff expect to be moving quite slowly and easing into our days as we wait for the pain in the head (from the night before) to go away. :hmm:

-drinking+ \:D/ = :puke:

But way to go jake!!! Working might not seem like the most wonderful thing in the world at the moment, but a little money's nice to have.

mmmmm. beer. those days when there are 9:30am practices, mean there is over 24 hrs of solid drinking time before practice the next day at 4:30pm. :) get a good 24 hrs in, then pass out for five, wake up and :puke: for 30 mins, and still make it to practice on time. :D

but jake won't have those problems with root beer. maybe he can drive :!:

Hey dishwasher is the best job in a restaurant. Just get to know the cook. Have him overcook some steaks for a customer or two. The customer will reject the steak and when they do the manager or the bus boy will bring the steak back to the dishwasher, its all yours my friend

The manager will write it off as burnt or whatever for their books.

Thanks guys.

HS666, just ask and I'll be the designated driver for the whole staff. ROTFALMAO

RC, I'm going to cook, too, but when I dishwash, I don't have time for a nice steak. And, the managers are the main cooks, so I'm screwed.
