Browns sign Jamal Reynolds
Berea, OH (Sports Network) - The Cleveland Browns have signed defensive end Jamal Reynolds, who was waived by Green Bay last week after a trade with Indianapolis fell through because he failed a physical.
The Browns signed the former first-round pick to a two-year contract.
Reynolds was traded from Green Bay to Indianapolis back on July 8 in exchange for a future undisclosed draft pick. However, Reynolds failed the Colts' physical on July 14 and his rights reverted back to the Packers.
The Packers selected Reynolds with the 10th overall pick of the 2001 draft, but he has struggled with injuries in his three NFL seasons.
The former Florida State standout has appeared in just 18 games and has compiled 17 tackles with three sacks.
After sustaining a knee injury during his first training camp in 2001, he played just six games and recorded two sacks. Another knee injury in camp the following year helped limit him to seven games.
The 25-year-old Reynolds had just four tackles in five games last year.
Reynolds won the Lombardi Award as college football's top lineman in his senior year at Florida State. He had 23 1/2 sacks in his four-year career with the Seminoles and helped the school to a national championship during his junior year.
