do you think ramsey will get a shot???

Post by jimminie82 »

after watching the shot out I couldn't help but wonder if mark B were to get beaten out in camp by patrick, if he would still get the starting simply because of the money he's being paid. there were far to many QB's traded this year that got far less money than what we paid him. I think we should have saved some money and looked into upgrading our D-fense and taking a a QB that wouldn't of hurt us so much in the pocket. what's your thoughts?

If by shot you mean a shot of tequilla then yes he'll get at least one! Seriously though.....
I think that Joe Gibbs word will stand. The best set up is the one that's going to start. If our line can block for him, he'll be in there.

It depends on what you mean by "a shot". If you mean will he get a shot at the starting job, sure he will. His odds aren't great, but he'll have as much chance as anyone. Now, if you mean will he get a shot at fame and fortune, then ABSOLUTELY!! If he follows Joe Gibbs, he'll get his shot at a great career. Sitting on the bench under Brunell's tutelage and Gibbs' instruction, could be the best "shot" he'll ever have.
Sit back and watch the Redskins.

SOMETHING MAGICAL IS ABOUT TO BEGIN!

I think that Joe Gibbs went out and got Brunell for a reason. The first thing he did after he got hired was to watch film of last year. The very next thing he did was go get another QB. What does that tell you ? He saw that Ramsey is still a work in progress. True he proved he could take a few hits but he takes too long to get back in the pocket after the snap and he holds the ball too long. How many times last year did Ramsey just through the ball away, never. All of you Joe Theismann fans will remember in the hey day that Joe would just through the ball out of bounds rather than take the sack or throw an INT. The same can be said for Mark Rypien. I think the job is Brunell's to loose. The bottom line is that Joe wants a veteran QB that has been around the block a few times that realizes that the game is four quarters long. The team that makes the fewest mistakes usually wins. That has veteran written all over it.

he wasn't watching mark last year when watching tape, thier were other QB, who by the way did play last year that have helped in the same capacity, that would have cost us so much less.

I'll take Ramsey, head-to-head vs. Brunell. By the end of Camp, Ramsey will have shown himself to be a better QB than first thought. The zero audible, holey water O-line, butter-finger WR offense is gone. In comes pass protection, Clinton Portis and a finely tuned WR Corps. No disrespect to Brunell, I just think Ramsey is an extremely talented guy - I hope he keeps his head on straght and pushes himself to the next level... All Pro!

well then that brings up the question "should we keep mark if in fact patrick gets the starting job. is he worth that type of money to sit there? will he want to?

So many are criticizing the acquisition of Brunell saying that the Redskins overpaid for the guy. My understanding of the matter is that the contract is heavily backloaded; and that Brunell probably won't be seeing much of that money as it is. In that scenario its fine to have that kind of money spent on a backup.

As a side note, I'd also like to see some more reasoned statements from the doubters rather than always giving the umbrella remark like "it's just too much to handle" or other such tripe.

I think that it's going to come down to who ever plays the best during the first preseason
games will start the season. Mark will start the HOF game and the 1st and 2nd preseason game
and if he isnt doing well then they'll throw
Ramsey in there and evaluate both players and
whoever shows the best numbers in the 1st quarter of the preseason, then I think that will be who leads the cavalry.

man, i just thought about this. with ramsey in as a backup, against a backup defense, he'll think that hes got hours to get rid of the ball, as apposed to miliseconds last year. he should light it up. maybe he should only get a few snaps as well. too valuable to risk, let timmy and gibran fight it out.

Ramsey will get a chance, but the point is that he doesn't have a chance...
