Sean Taylor Poll ???
I'm not too worried yet about Mr. Taylor, but today's Post article is starting to send up some red flags in my book.
1) This agent process has taken WAY too long
2) Skipping out on the mandatory rookie symposium & the BS excuse
3) Skipping "several" organized team activities.
So the question is, will he be in camp on time or not????

I'm just baffled by all this. I thought that one of the major reasons for drafting Taylor over Winslow was so that we could avoid off-the-field distractions. It's been nothing but a roller coaster ride with this guy and he hasn't even suited up yet. It all seems so uncharacteristic of a young man that was held in such high esteem back in April. I just hope he gets some guidance and can straighten things out. It would be awful to see such talent and potential go to waste.

"Saen Taylor"? I think he has no chance of being in camp? Is he a free agent??
As for Sean Taylor, I think we can get him into camp soon. Joe's clout and determination to rid the team of distractions will have an impact on swift negotiations from the Skins, once knucklehead Sean gets an agent.

First, welcome to the board!
Second.... What roller coaster ride are you talking about

1) hasn't hired an agent yet (Big deal it's July 12th.... Yes it's getting closer and closer to training camp... but we're still a month and a half away from the beginning of the season... if he signs one next week, this point is moot)
2) he missed a day of a rookie session which they learn about life as an NFL player..... because he was getting evicted from his apartment. Last i knew, getting evicted isn't a mortal sin

I don't see why everyone is worried. He hasnt chose an agent because he is smart and wants to get the best guy who can help work out a deal that will be good for Sean and the team. He missed part of camp with a legit excuse in my opinion. And as far as the team activities they were not mandatory. Sure it would have been nice if he attended but he didn't have to. I am confident that he will be in camp and will develope into a leader on this team.

Yeah, BTP, I think that you missed that on Taylor's list of "what he's done". . .take pies in the face.

And I agree with you--I'm glad that this is what we're nitpicking about rather than the kinds of problems inherent with drafting other kinds of guys (*cough* KWII *cough* *cough*)

I'm not 100% sure, but I think he'll be there. I think this kid is a class act...and he'll do what it takes to be at camp on time....at least, I'm 75% sure he will

You know, I was surprised to read that he missed some OTA's. Everything I had read had nothing but positives to say. And man... Not attending the full symposium when at a #5 draft pick with the salary implications that represents... Irresponsible. I mean He's not even signed(heck he doesn't even have a agent yet) and he's already going to cost the team $10,000. I personally would like this kid in camp, signed and ready to go!!! He is going to be the definitive cog in our defensive gearing.
I figure... If life is all about the choices you make... Then I choose Redskin football, beer and hot wings!!

To heck with that. What that boy needs, is for somebody to call Rick James.

Anyway, I think it's too much to do in too little time. He's gonna be late.
Sorry, kids.

dont yell at me for saying this but i voted for zero % chance he will be ther the first day of camp....i hope im rong..but its not looking good...i mean he even missed some OTA's ..yes they werent maditory but thats not the point...hes new..he has alot to learn in a short time..and as far as missing the maditory rookie meetings that is just not right!!!! from what i know a landlord cant just through u out of your apartment.. they would need a court order to do so and i havent heard anything about one being involved...beleive me gibbs wont put up with much more of this nosence no matter how good he is...i think next year we should give all our draft picks and just pick up veterans who want to be at camp and play... these kids coming out of college are too imature and want top dollor before they have even proved themselfs...i wish i could get job that would pay me top dollar and hope i live up to how much i make

I voted 100%. I say he will right his ship and get this taking care of in due time, on time. As for everything else, he's young and he'll learn, bet your ass, he'll learn one way or another from Coach Gibbs....its his only option at this point.
I have travelled the net and found the Redskins promise land. This is, by far, the best site out there for Redskins/NFL News, Notes, Opinions, and so much more.

Perhaps "roller coaster" is an exaggeration. But I was referring to: leaving rookie symposium early (for getting evicted?? since when are landlords worried about receiving rent money from professional football players?? bizarre), missing numerous voluntary practices, his reaction to rookie hazing, firing his agent and not hiring a new one regardless of the short time to negotiate before camp.
It's just been nothing but bad news. Am I genuinely worried that he's not gonna be in camp? No, I just wish he would grow up a little bit and take care these things sooner rather than later.

Yeah I hear what your saying... and some would lead us to believe that he's headed in a down hill direction... but i believe any negatives he might have brought himself, are small compared to other players in the league.... And we all have things about us that could be nit-picked as negative... we're just not in public view like he is...

From Chris Mortensen ESPN:
Trent, DC: Mort, who is advising Sean Taylor? I have never seen a rookie wait this long to get an agent. Does this kid want to get paid or give Gibbs a headache?
Chris Mortensen: (12:56 PM ET ) I was told by somebody I trust that anybody selecting Taylor needed to do a lot of digging on the guy. That suggests he has some flaws, but let's give him the benefit of doubt until we see the end result.
groundss wrote:BTP, I couldn't agree more. These issues are minor yet because of the lack of news, they are all we have to talk about. My thinking is that in a couple months, when this kid is wreaking havoc on the gridiron, no one will even remember this garbage.
That is what we hope and expect.
But, name 1 top draft pick that went into late July with out an agent. It is obvious that either Sean Taylor is getting bad advice or even worse, if running the show himself (if this is how he works/thinks...uhh oh).
