Pauper to prince: UM players cash in

Post by BossHog »

Two weeks later, some of UM's first-rounders say they don't feel much different from before -- except for bulging pride. But when these football wonders sign their contracts around July, they also will have bulging pockets. All six -- No. 5 pick Sean Taylor (Washington Redskins), No. 6 Kellen Winslow (Cleveland Browns), No. 12 Jonathan Vilma (New York Jets), No. 17 D.J. Williams (Denver Broncos), No. 19 Vernon Carey (Miami Dolphins) and No. 21 Wilfork -- likely will be multimillionaires.

''More money. More responsibilities. More potential problems,'' said offensive lineman Carey, 22, a Miami native who grew up in Liberty City. ``Now I rent an apartment with my fiancée and my son. I still feel poor. I still have no money. Everything is still owing.''

Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.
