4-2 and the remaining schedule

Post by Prowl33 »

What a game against philly. Score didn't show it but we dominated them on both sides of the field. I know a lot of you probably don't like getting ahead, like kirk always says 1 game at a time... but it's interesting to look at the remaining schedule.

Oct 23 @DET 1:00-FOX
Oct 30 @CIN 9:30-FOX
Bye
Nov 13 MIN 1:00-FOX
Nov 20 GB 8:30-NBC
Nov 24 @DAL 4:30-FOX
Dec 4 @ARI 4:25-FOX
Dec 11 @PHI 1:00-FOX
Dec 19 CAR 8:30-ESPN
Dec 24 @CHI 1:00-FOX
Jan 1 NYG 1:00-FOX

Now I believe we can handle Detroit and Cincinnati, Vikings are easily the best team in the nfc right now... Packers seem beatable, but you can never count out Rodgers. The cow pukes are gonna get it... Arizona and Carolina used to look like the hardest games on our schedule, now we should win those, chicago is a joke, leaving the eagles who we have won 4 in a row against now, and the giants who aren't impressive at all.

Honestly, I see us ranging at BEST 12-4 and worst 9-7. Would of never predicted that at the beginning of the year... but looking at our schedule, it's possible we only lose 2 more games.

Detroit put 30 on the scoreboard today. They can move the ball and make things happen. Even Andre Roberts is playing well for them this year. We're travelling to their house. It will be tough. Don't take anything for granted. One game at a time must be the mantra.

I'm worried that the pundits will start taking us seriously, and pick us to win these games. I'd much rather fly under the radar.

Yeah I'm with you, man. Gotta quit looking at these games and saying "should" do this or "should do" that. Did anybody expect the Dolphins to destroy Pittsburgh yesterday?

That's a bad Lions defense though. 300 yards and 3 TDs for Case Keenum? It would be a great week for Cousins to have one of those games...

It's a tough schedule, but I'm fine with that. I got so sick of hearing about how we didn't win against a team with a winning blah blah blah last year. We are seeing improvement, so I want the team to have a chance to prove itself against the league's best.

I prefer to stay under the radar too. But what seemed to be an unrelenting schedule initially now seems to be a lot more favorable. The team has improved every week too, so if we keep that going we can definitely win the east and find ourselvesome being legit playoff contenders

Nice to see the optimism. Seems to me that some folks owe Joe Barry an apology too.

the 6 games after the bye are going to be tough - it's great to be 4-2 but we could very easily be 5-1 ... 8 or 9 wins would be good

the players and coaches don't care what the odds are or what the media thinks - they will do their jobs as best they can regardless

hopefully more games continue to have our opponents making stupid decisions on and off the field
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Maybe in fantasyland, but in the real world we all know this simply isn't true. If things are going well, people will start believing the hype. This is how trap games happen. It's much better to be "Us against the world."

Right, whatever. Name me one time this team has ever bought into its own hype!!! :D

hah. I'm loving the lack of hype around the team. This has been the most boring media year for the team I can remember.

I kinda feel like Gruden deserves some credit for keeping the team focused week by week. Especially after losses, but just never seems like he gets too ahead of himself either way. That can't be easy around here where people tend to overreact.

You seem to be equating hype with drama. We haven't had much hype the last 20 years (maybe 2012), but we have had plenty of drama. But I too applaud Gruden for the lack of drama.

I think a lot of the lack of media has to do with RGIII being elsewhere and the fact we are winning. The media is weak and fickle. The minute we start losing, it'll be "game on"....

Gruden deserves a lot more credit than he gets. From what I hear, those players love him, and will do anything for him. That alone gets you wins, because when you don't care for your coach or even are just indifferent about him, the level of play is much different than if you can take wait to fight for him and show him what you can do.

Didn't mean to equate the two, and I agree 100% the drama years have far exceeded those hype years!

I think Gruden has been good about tamping down on the hype though too. I was feeling kind of hyped after beating the Eagles the other day. I noted in Gruden's post game conference that he was pretty even and already talking about getting ready for the Lions. I like the approach.

Probably true. But even the first two weeks of the season, dropping those two games, just seemed to me that the media noise was less than usual. I think its less about the team losing as it is the media finding bad stories to report on. You know, players bitching, backstabbing, coaches in danger of losing their jobs, dissension, rumors about Snyder, etc;

Heard a radio comment the other day that he gets a lot of credit from players for sticking with them when they struggle or have bad games. Shanahan was apparently notoriously quick with the hook. Gruden has been more willing to give players a chance to battle through it. Not hard to see how that breeds loyalty from the players.

I agree that Gruden has done a good job this season - the lack of 'drama & intrigue' must help a lot ...

if we go 2-6 over the next 8 games, there will be a lot of pressure on the QB and HC
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance

I remember talk of players turning on Kirk after the loss to the Pies.

My point exactly. The media didn't get whipped up about the loss to Dallas. They spent a few days talking about THAT.

Gruden is getting better, I am not sold on him but we could have worse. Lots worse.
Since this thread is wandering, I wonder why McVeigh is up in the booth? And, is that a quarterback coach seen talking to Cousins on the sidelines?

I think Mcvay liked the booth better in preseason, and after the 0-2 start he moved up there and we are 4-0 since. I'm sure you can't attribute it all tof that, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it

I'd love to get to 6-2 but I wonder how the fans and media will feel if we are at 6-6 but are still playing well ...
