The Washington Redskins will sign free agent center John Sullivan and place center Kory Lichtensteiger on injured reserve, according to two people with knowledge of the situation on Tuesday. Lichtensteiger suffered a calf injury in Sunday’s 29-27 victory over the New York Giants and was listed as “week-to-week” by Redskins Coach Jay Gruden on Monday.

You know, if McCloughan had listened to me when I said Lichtensteiger would not make the final roster we wouldn't have these issues.

Another not-so-long term injury dealt with by putting someone on IR.

So does that mean he's slated for return?

It is possible that an MRI showed them something that was not what they expected. Happens...

I'm hearing Trent Williams is just going to play left guard AND center vs. the Browns.

Probably could play both better than Lichthensteiger and Lauvao combined.

Yes, but my question is what kind of IR did they place him on?

It doesn't matter because the new IR rules allow a player to come back after 8 weeks. What matters is if he can return at any point this season. A team can only designate one player as IR - Scheduled To Return during any season.

Exactly. Do we already have a player designated for return? Did we designate him as such or did we put him on the season-ending IR? It's a pretty simple question

I'm unable to find any player who has been officially listed as IR-DTR as of yet. It looks like only Golston or Lichtensteiger would be candidates for IR-DTR as the other players on IR are known or thought to be out for the entire season.

Back when we first picked him up, I used to call him Lichtensucker. I think I actually used the term a couple times on this site. Regardless, I'm not losing sleep over this one. He's a mediocre C/OL. I wish him the best, but he's had better years and been the weakest link in our OL this season to date.
Btw how crazy is it that Lauvao and Lichtensteiger both go down, and LeRib doesn't get a call? Ouch.

He sucks. They'd rather have a guy who had his back fused together and who was out of football last season.

Right? LeRib just went through a year as a starter and an entire off season with the team, but they called up THAT guy.

I'd rather lose 16 games than put up with LeRibeus and Lichtenstinker
we will get better without these 2 losers - we have ZERO chance of improving with either of them on the roster
they shoot horses that are in better shape than these 2 zombies
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
I am looking forward to the day that Scot can finally get a decent offensive and defensive line
not sure that many of the players or coaches that we currently have will be a part of that

Yeah at least with Kouandjio and Long playing, these are young guys who might get better from the experience. Hope they both take advantage of the opportunity.

You kinda ruined the surprise... but what's it cost to ship to Rhode Island? I'm sure my homie SJ would be delighted to receive a bulk shipment!!!
Please don't respond to that crap, bro... just makes it harder to find so we can clean it up.

#Redskins without Spencer Long: 227 rushing yards (three games)
With: 435 rushing yards (three games)
Upgrade? Yes
Let's hope that trend holds and its not just coincidence!
