Bryan Stork C welcome to the Redskins

Post by mastdark81 »

Bryan Stork have just been traded to the Redskins via Ian Rappoport.

What does this mean for our Center situation?

That's crazy! Didn't see that coming at all when I read that Stork was being released this morning.

Bigger dude, huh?

Lichtensteiger 6'2" 292
Stork 6'4" 313

I guess with a conditional pick involved this is a pretty smart, low risk move.

I'm pretty sure it means they'd like to cut LeRibeus and Reiter and keep Long at left guard. 8-[

He's had 4 or 5 concussions already.. three as a pro I believe, and one in the last preseason game. Is strongly considering retirement... sounds like it was to good to be true!

I'm sure you all know by now but here is a very interesting twist.

Dude is considering retiring. If he does ... he owes us money ! He would forfeit $600,000 in salary and have to give us $238,500 in bonus.

Naturally, we'd also not lose the conditional pick.

One of my Boston friends commented on Stork: "He was great as a rookie 2 years ago. Now he gets a concussion every time he breathes."

Thought that was odd about the concussion issue. Doesn't seem like it would be such a common injury for an o-lineman does it?

I'll be surprised if he retires, especially since it will cost him $800K or whatever. Not just money he'll lose out on, but money he has to pay back.

almost any O lineman would be an upgrade on LeRibeus

there's a lot to worry about with Stork - I highly doubt that he's retiring now and paying back the $200,000+
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

If he don't meet Belichek's standards he don't have a place here either. This is the only time I have ever wondered 'what was Scott thinking?' This just shows how desperate they are at Skins Park, don't it.

BOSTON (CBS) — Patriots center Bryan Stork has suffered his third concussion in as many years. A source told the Boston Herald’s Jeff Howe that Stork is “dealing with yet another concussion issue.”

Stork reportedly sustained the concussion during the first padded practice of Patriots training camp on Saturday.

Stork, 25, missed three games in the middle of his rookie season in 2014 with a concussion. He then suffered another concussion at the beginning of the 2015 season and was placed on short-term injured reserve before returning Week 9 against the Washington Redskins. Stork also suffered a concussion during the 2013 season while playing at Florida State University.

Correct me if I'm wrong but ...

If we cut him he gets no salary, he has already gotten the bonus money, and we keep the pick ?

If he retires we make money, and keep the pick ?

If he contributes we pay the salary and give up the pick depending on how much he contributes ?

Let me repeat, he did not meet Belicheks' standards, by definition he cannot meet ours and is both a waste of time and will have detrimental effect on our starters. Bad decision.

Wrong.

We are NOT the Patriots. Not even close!
Since 2003 only two seasons at 10 wins the rest above 10!! Come-on man... you think our standards are the same??? 4 rings this century, SIX super bowl appearances.. and some how WE are to good for their back up Center?

Where our aging vet is slowly becoming the weak link.. and this younger bigger man, who actually is better by all accounts, having lost his job to another younger man- isn't good enough for the Skins because the Pats let him walk?

I don't get that logic.

We are FINALLY seeing our cast away land elsewhere... picking up one from the Pats doesn't mean we aren't getting better though brotha

Stork told the team he is reporting this weekend. Unless he completely sucks, I expect he'll make our roster as the backup center/guard. LeRib will hit the bricks and Reiter will go to the practice squad again.

As for this comment that he didn't meet Belichik's standards so he shouldn't be on our team, all I can is... COME ON MAN. By that logic, we pretty much should never pick up an available free agent unless they get cut by Jason Garrett.

Let's do our own evaluation and decide if this guy can play or not.

Oh great:

One of the most complicated trades involving a conditional seventh-round pick ever has officially been rescinded. Center Bryan Stork failed his physical with the Redskins Monday, ESPN 980 in Washington D.C. reported, meaning he won’t be joining the team the Patriots traded him to last week.

This is crazy! Trade for an avg center with concussion problems that is pondering retirement. Now he can't even pass a physical smh. Were there no centers available in free agency?

The guy has been in training camp all summer. I'm willing to bet the physical he couldn't pass was the concussion test. No real way for the team to know that without, you know, giving him a physical.

Anyway, didn't cost us anything to kick the tires.

I don't think it makes a difference for LeRib, personally. Not sure he's making the roster whether Stork is here or not. Long will be the backup center.

Seems like they're not happy with Lichtensteiger. Can you blame them?

Yeah that's what I'm thinking too. I'm not usually one to bash the offensive line, but he was really bad Friday night vs. the Bills. Had like three penalties in the first quarter.

Its frustrating that Long and/or Reiter haven't been able to knock him out of there.

Saga over: Patriots officially dump C Stork
Patriots waived C Bryan Stork.
Five days after it was reported the Patriots were releasing Stork, he's now on the streets following a failed trade to the Redskins that was nullified when Stork contemplated retirement and then ultimately failed his physical. Stork has a history of concussions and is known as a hothead. If healthy, he should eventually land on his feet somewhere for a second chance.

so one person sharpens another.
