Deadspin predictions: LA Rams 2016

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Deadspin predictions: LA Rams 2016

Post by welch »

Yes, the Rams fled St. Louis this offseason and headed west to reclaim their title as Lamest Pro Sports Team In Los Angeles. Feels great! It was the first NFL franchise relocation since the Oilers left Houston back in 1997. And it was all thanks to Stan Kroenke....

Kroenke’s flight from St. Louis—a city that is STILL paying off its stadium debt from the Rams moving in two decades ago—represents the apex of the NFL’s virulent desire to suck the lifeblood out of everything and everyone around it. Citizens of Los Angeles, Stan Kroenke cares about you as much as the city he just trashed on his way out the door. He’s already tried to cheat his own players by keeping Missouri labor law language in their contracts (I guess he liked SOME things about the state). And he will use that new stadium (located in the garbage dump that is Inglewood) as a cudgel to snatch up other properties, demand further tax rebates, and force any second L.A. football team to live under his boot. Right now, there is no NFL owner—not even Dan Snyder — who deserves failure more than this squirrel pelt of a man. [Note: an owner that Deadspin dislikes even more than it dislikes Snyder!] Thankfully, the team he happens to own is perpetually capable of making all his worst nightmares come true.

My son, Redskin Dan v1978, now lives near St Louis. He remains a Redskin fan and the grandsons are Skins fans. We visited as STL and MO proposed a new (newer?) stadium, which the NFL declared inadequate, allowing Stan Kroenke to move the Rams to someplace near Los Angeles. Sleazy. Even worse if Los Angeles agrees to pay for a theme-park football stadium.

Deadspin dislikes the NFL, and Dan Snyder, but feels Kroenke is even worse than Snyder.

His affiliation with the Redskins is irrelevant...the point is? Deadspin like others feel that Kroenke
should not have just up'd and moved the Rams out of St Louis and placed them back in LA, without
first discussing it with the city, but I assure you he could not have made this move without the NFL's
rubber stamp who by the way have been clamoring for a Los Angeles team for quite sometime now
and have gotten what they wanted...does this make it right? Absolutely not, If I were the city of St
Louis I go after Kroenke and the NFL for compensation and then find a useful purpose for the stadium
till a team can actually occupy it

That my kids live in Saint Louis means, of course, that I've been there. Have read details that others would have ignored. Is that point clear enough???

If it's your intent to provoke Welch, please take it to Smack (I predict you will be disappointed... dude has owed me hundreds of cents since grade school... won't even talk about terms). With one exception, I suspect that even the most obtuse on the board get the point... OTOH, if you wish to discuss, knock yourself out. Thanks

My intent is to get an answer of what his kids being in St Louis or having visited St Louis has anything to do with
Kroenke selling the Rams back to Los Angeles????

Parse all you want, the appearance is that you seek to be argumentative. I see a trend. Take it to smack. If Welch wants to engage, he'll do it there. It's a shame this thread can't just be a discussion.
