Romo Is Not A Hall Of Famer Says Rick Gosselin

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Romo Is Not A Hall Of Famer Says Rick Gosselin

Post by Burgundy&GoldForever »

The entire piece is well written and worth the read but this stood out:

Charlie Conerly, Roman Gabriel, John Brodie and Joe Theismann were NFL MVPs. Theismann won a Super Bowl and Conerly an NFL title. Brodie and Conerly also won passing titles. None of those quarterbacks can get into Canton and only Conerly of the four has ever been discussed as a finalist.

I just thought it was nice to read it from a Dallas writer instead of everyone else.

I don't know that the sarcasm is necessary.

The guy has won what, one post-season game? How could he, by any stretch, be considered to be enshrined in the HOF? Sarcasm is indeed necessary.

True but the Hall has enshrined the likes of Joe Namath and Bob Griese so anything is possible.

At least we know Romo won't be receiving Gosselin's vote. Or the vote of anyone Gosselin can influence.

The actual # of post season games won? is 2 (putting that aside for a moment) Before you go scoffing
at the idea Romo could enter the HOF, his #'s stand out as pretty damn good, He's broken Marino's
record in passing yards, continues to rack up touchdowns and all this despite the fact he's failed to
achieve the ultimate goal. So how can the HOF not be watching this guy and saying if not first ballot
then somewhere down the line his stats will be good enough to get him in?

Exactly. Romo is about 25,000 yards behind Marino in career passing yards.

maybe it was a little known record of Dan's that he broke ....

The bottom line here is? Gosselin can think Romo isn't Hall material
all he likes, But his #'s alone somewhere down the road could easily lead
to enshrinement into the Hall

Not if this is the farthest he ever gets in the playoffs.

There are many, many more QBs with better numbers, and more playoff wins that will never see the Hall. The best Blowmo can hope for is the Cowpie ring of shame.

Romo has not done anything to warrant thoughts of a HOF career - he could, but he has not shown that he's even close to being that good a QB

and one thing's almost certain - he's not playing for a franchise that has a GM that will help him become a better QB

Those are all Cowpie records, not NFL. Nothing there warrants being in the HOF conversation. Like I said, put him in the ring of shame and be done with it.

Romo plays in a stat/pass oriented league. Voters take this into consideration. Passing and receiving yards are inflated in today’s NFL. Translation...it will take much more than stats to get into the PFHOF. Romo "may" get nominated (because anyone can nominate a player) but he will not even make the first cut on any ballot unless he wins/play in a SB before he retires.

Most are Pie records. Some QBs are HOF worthy, the rest (and this group includes Blowmo) aren't.

Moon, Kelly, Marino just to name a few who had inflated stats and made the HOF, so obviously anyone who
can break records all be it? Team or league records will eventually see consideration for the HOF. provided
Jerruh first see's Romo as worthy of ROH recognition? which as we all know is like getting teeth pulled since
he tends to be very bias in selection

And all played in an era before the rules changed. Either way Romo doesn't belong in the same sentence as Moon, Kelly and Marino.

Don't hide behind the excuse of league and rule changes..Romo if he were a 'bad' QB wouldn't have the type
of #'s he has and this conversation wouldn't be taking place. So let's get down to it shall we?

The reality here is? he plays for Dallas and that doesn't sit well with anyone, You'd
rather he be in San Diego or New Orleans so you can laugh it up that Jerruh either
overlooked/failed to get the guy, Or opted to get rid of him like they did Ware so
that when he does better you can easily poke fun

so this dream scenerio of what the future holds when he does leave football is
nothing more than a pipe dream at the moment, his stats look good, But I want
titles not #'s so let's leave the rest till we get a more clear picture

thanks

OK seeing as how the troll thinks Droppo has beaten Marino's records let's compare shall we
Stat Droppo Marino
Games 156 242
Attempts 4,335 8,358
Completions 2,829 4,967
Pct 65.3 59.4
Yards 34,183 61,361
avg 7.9 7.3
Yards game 219 253.6
TD passes 248 420
TD % 5.7 5.0
Ints 117 252
Int % 2.7 3.0
Long 85 85
Sacks 248 270
Sack Yard 1672 1930
Rating 97.1 86.4
Numbers don't lie. Looks like Marino is better in every way than Droppo. I didn't even use playoff games. That stat alone puts Marino way above Droppo.
Because in Marino's 2nd season he won more playoff games than Droppo has his entire career.
