The NFL Network continued its countdown of the Top 100 players in the NFL on Wednesday night and Kirk Cousins made his debut on the list.

The former Michigan State star had a record-breaking season for the Redskins in 2015 as Washington won the NFC East crown.

Cousins checked in at No. 85 on the list.

In his first year as a full-time starter, Cousins passed for 4,166 yards and 29 touchdowns against only 11 interceptions.

Those numbers are impressive on their own, but it was Cousins’ production over the last half of the season, with the division crown on the line, that made his inclusion on the NFL Network’s list a no-brainer.

There weren't 84 better players than Kirk Cousins last season. I guess this is supposed to be an honor but I find it insulting more than anything else.

I will be happy for the national media to continue to insult and dismiss our team for as long as possible. They're bandwagon jumpers and rarely right in their predictions.

Really, I'm with riggofan and happy that the sensationalist media is focused on others.

Another way to look at this with a more positive spin is that every team in the league (on average) has only 2 or 3 guys that the players think are better than Kirk. That's maybe 5 or 10 QBs and then a coupla guys from each team.

I think he will lead many TD drives.

This is the ranking voted on by players. I don't really see it as an insult to Cousins. He's clearly a player on the rise.

So, this actually suggests that he got A LOT of support from the small number of teams who played against him once he kicked into gear... If his play continues at a similar level, I imagine he'll get even more support for next year's poll...

Not necessarily. I think players generally follow the NFL news, and didn't have to be on opposing teams to know that Kirk was performing at a high level the last half of the season. But I do agree about his gaining support if his play continues to show improvement.

Human nature... there is a difference between watching the "YOU LIKE THAT!!!" memes, and facing the real deal on the field. There is an "earn it" mentality... and, in most cases, unless you've watched him either take the game away or scare the crap out of you with a 4th quarter recovery and last minute drive, you will hold to that. It's just human nature. I suspect he got LOTS of votes from teams that played him in the second half of the 2015 season... not so much from others. The discussion is moot, though... we will never know.

The NFL Top 100 is actually my favorite offseason ranking list.

I wonder who else from the Skins will make it this year. I'd guess Kerrigan, Williams, and Reed. Maybe DeSean, but if he was going to make it I'd have guessed he'd be on the list already. The injuries probably hurt his chances.

I'd agree with this. I also think Norman needs to make it to justify his shutdown corner salary.

Oh, duh. I forgot about Norman. He'll definitely be way up there on the list.
