WashingtonTimes: Redskins shopping for early picks

Post by ANT7088 »

The Washington Redskins have inquired about obtaining the San Diego Chargers' No. 1 overall pick, though the conversation is believed to have been more about being comprehensive than serious.

What do you think ant? Will we trade samuels or keep him? I want to keep him. I believe he will turn into something great under Gibbs. Gibbs will make him work harder and concentrate on his tasks at hand.

Keep him, I think once he starts playing and see's what Gibbs is going to bring to this team, he will re-neg. Otherwise next year he may miss something very special

i say keep him because all we do when we get rid of him is fill his hole with a pick instead of filling other holes, like our dline, safety, tight end, etc.

Why would we trade a Pro bowl caliber LT AND the #5 pick for the #1 pick to get a rookie LT ....The Cap hit would kill us

If this was 2005 and the cap hit is less .... then maybe

  But we won't be Drafting in the top 15 in 2005

I think We keep Chris and draft Sean Taylor

Portrayed as a key factor in the original Gallery-Samuels report was Samuels' contract situation. However, any potential dispute appears to have been overstated. Samuels, according to sources, has been willing to rework his contract this offseason or discuss a long-term extension next offseason; his only objection is to discuss a long-term extension this offseason

So he has been talking about negotiating his contract. This is great news. We better keep him. It will be a waste of a pick if we get rid of him.

Redskins Rule ..I agree it makes no sense to trade up and move Samuels now he will be more of a force this years because he knows he HAS to reno his contract if he wants to stay a redskin and I really think he wants to be here.

Heres a quote that should end the SD trade rumor

Said director of player personnel Vinny Cerrato: "We have no ammunition to trade. There's nobody we would want to get at No. 1. We're content at No. 5 or moving down."

BUT IT IS 1 WEEK FROM DRAFT DAY and Front Offices will say anything this time of year
