The one game we won this season was mainly because of our offenses ability to run the ball. Is it a coincidence we won our only game with Matt Jones leading the day in rushing yards and two TDS?
It think not.
Kirk can be a good game manager and we can bring him along slowly but surely. However we need to first establish the run game and not give up on it. Unless we are down 3 scores or more.
Esablishing a good running game will help all facets of the game for us. Our defense will get more rest and gain confidence. Kirk will not have to take as many chances and it will help build his confidence as well. Momentum is huge in football. The small successes of a game all add up. Each successful play is a confidence builder. The more you have the more confidence you gain. Thus leading to more success.
This is the proper perspective pertaining to our team the Redskins.
1. We can run the ball well. We have two very capable running backs. So run the rock 50 times plus.
2. We have a defense who can stop the run well. Our secondary has been the weak link but they are capable of playing better. Especially if we can get a lead and have our passrushers get after the opposing QB.
3. Kirk is fairly inexperienced so protect him by running the ball more. Give him some confidence builders by throwing off of playaction and maybe some screens and short routes in the meanwhile. As we acquire more wins give Kirk more and more throwing plays slowy.
Thats it Gruden you bonehead! 50 carrys a game split between Alf and Matt. Get a lead and force our opponents to pass the ball then turn our passrushers loose on the opposing QB.
Like it or not we dont have Peyton Manning, Brady or Aaron Rogers passing the rock yet.
Such a simple gameplan that has won so Many SB titles.

Re: Successful perspective
I pretty much agree with everything you've said, except for Jones getting the rock more = better success in the run game. Morris had a hell of a game against Miami.

Thanks HH ... there are many here that think that Cousins is a lot better QB than he really is - we have a decent run game let's use it more - we have a QB that is not comfortable under pressure and an O line that does not pass protect very well - let's play a more run based offense and mix in the timing passes and play action short stuff that Cousins is more comfortable with
btw - I think Cousins is doing a better job at QB than McCoy or Griffin would have done - the issues we have are not because of our QB play
everybody here needs to do a better job

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
