Coach Parcells discussion about QBs today

Post by tribeofjudah »

RG3 is the poster boy for QBs busy building their brand and they forget they have to play. Says Andrew Luck didn't go for endorsements from apparel, sports drinks, subway because his dad told him not to and focus on his game. Listen to Parcells and Rich Eisen.

I'm sure Luck has many endorsements but he didn't neglect game study and improving his play.

The NFL built RG3s brand for him..Redskins created the expectations with the trade and Rg3 just followed suit and tried to capitalize just as any business man would. The NFL is a business! If you dont take care of YOU, they sure wont.

He came out and had a great rookie of the year won ROY award and celebrated one of the bests years of a rookie qb in history. So it wasnt like he didnt initially fulfill the hype machine.

RG3 got hurt and was never the same. That was his downfall. Fans irk me when a guy have a side hobby amd they feel a person cannot excel at both.

Only difference between his marketing and Lucks is just his is more in your face bc of the social media aspect of his branding. For all we know it was probably written in his contracts by forward thinking companies that he represents.

Parcells is welcome to his opinion but as someone who works for the Cleveland Browns he should be more concerned with what Johnny Manziel is doing. Or is he going to blame that on personal branding, too?
“He was at that time the smartest player in the league. We did everything we could to try to eliminate him from the play. We knew if we didn’t neutralize him, then we had less of a chance of winning.” - John Hannah on Chris Hanburger

Andrew Luck is doing TV commercials.

Best, though is Luke McCown's TV commercial for Verizon talking about the importance of backup in networks. McCown is backup QB for the Saints.

I don't think TV commercials have anything to do with it.

Brady and Manning have so many endorsements it is insane. They are doing just fine.
RIP Sean Taylor. You will be missed.

In my view commercials had nothing to with Griffin's failure and injuries merely postponed the recognition of his limits. Robert Griffin doesn't have the spatial intelligence to process the field fast enough to play QB in an NFL offense. It's not his fault but he just doesn't have the talent.

Maybe he can find a RO gig in the CFL or get on the staff at Baylor but commercials were not his undoing. The Redskins blew 3 firsts and a second on the QB who played in a college offense that didn't require quick analysis and decision making. Many fans still don't understand.
