Mark Maske's Updated Mock Draft

Post by jklote »

From Mark Maske's updated Mock draft....

1. Giants (from 4th via trade with Chargers)
Eli Manning, QB, Mississippi (1*) -- When Giants General Manager Ernie Accorsi says he isn't obsessed with trading up for Manning but talks about the time he had John Elway traded out from under him, he sure sounds obsessed with trading up for Manning.

2. Redskins (from 5th via trade with Raiders)
Robert Gallery, LT, Iowa (4) -- Chris Samuels goes the way of Champ Bailey after resisting the Redskins' attempts to rework his contract.

3. Cardinals
Larry Fitzgerald, WR, Pittsburgh (3) -- It's difficult to imagine Coach Dennis Green letting his former Vikings ballboy slip by.

4. Chargers (from 1st via trade with Giants)
Ben Roethlisberger, QB, Miami (Ohio) (7) -- San Diego gets about three extra picks and saves signing-bonus money to move down, and still gets a likely franchise quarterback.

5. Raiders (from 2nd via trade with Redskins)
Roy Williams, WR, Texas (2) -- Oakland gets additional picks for trade-down and ends up with the player it might have taken with the second choice.

This would essentially trade Winslow and Samuels for Gallery. After seeing a little film on Gallery, he is definitely not the caliber of player that Samuels is. He looks a little thin for a tacke, and he seems stiff in his blocking technique. Tony Mandarch comes to mind :?

I think this would be a terrible move.

That would be an EXTREMELY STUPID move by the Skins. I would call Dan Snyder and Joe Gibbs and yell at them if this trade went down.

Nah, not gonna happen. The Raiders would need to throw in two starters and another high round pick. Plus, I think the Skins are happy with Samuels - and he's happy to be a Skin. Contracts are going to be tough from time to time, but Samuels didn't play well last season and doesn't really deserve TOP dollar in my opinion. The Skins don't need to move up to #2 to get Gallery. It's just whacko -
