So what is the #2 worth for us?

Post by whomp-em »

Say we trade the #5 pick and Samuels to the Raiders. Cleveland supposedly really wants Gallery. Could it be possible that we'd trade the #2 to Cleveland for their 1st (#7), 2nd (#37) and whatever # their 3rd rounder is (and maybe a 3rd round pick next year)?

According to the Raiders Chris Samuels is worth the 3 spots between #2 and #5. So asking for a 2nd and 3rd round pick for the 5 spots we'd be dropping is pretty fair if not generous.

If something like this were to happen the Skins would almost definitely be able to take one of their top 3 choices (Taylor, Winslow, Harris) with the #7 and then scoop up a couple of picks in 2nd and 3rd round. Say Taylor slips to #7, they take him and then grab DT Randy Starks in the 2nd round. Gibbs should be able to find a nice pick in the 3rd round and we will have filled 2 glaring needs at the cost of losing Samuels while possibly getting another pick next year.

Since Brunell is a southpaw, LT isn't as hot of a commodity for us so it isn't immediately necessary for us to take the highest rated LT on the board. I don't know if this scenario is feasible, but I figured I'd see what other people thought...

personally i would like to see the skins just draft taylor

With that said winslow is amazing also. With k2 as the h back our team would be stacked at every offensive skill posision yet our defense might not be so good. Clearly last year we had a better defense than the chiefs, but they dont play the cowboys and the eagles twice each.

On the other hand, perhaps stacking our offense so that it is virtually undefendable is the right course of action in the long run. We have made many defensive signings and really our defense wasnt terribly bad...we just were always very tired late in the game and ended up losing it (maimi comes to mind.) That or we dont even try.

With Williams secondary based defense Sean Taylor does seem like the most logical choice to me.
