McCoy wasn't the best quarterback when he played but....right now I don't think he could be as bad as Cousins. Cousins seems to do well until the 4th quarter and then he falls apart, i.e. two 3 interception 4th quarters. To bad, I had hoped he would do better and give the Redskins an option over RGIII. I think there is no question about RGIII's athletic ability but there are questions about his being able to stay healthy.

The Redskins won't do it. But as a fan I'd like to see him,be the starter until Robert is ready. Even though Kirk is a good backup benching him would kill any trade stock he might have, but at this point might as well keep him as a backup till his contract is done. But who says Colt can't be as good of a back up? Colt has been a starter for a few seasons I believe and has won games.

not sure why McCoy should be playing if Sean and Jay think that Cousins is the better QB - just like when Griffin is ready to play, he will ONLY be playing when he convinces Sean and Jay that he is better than Cousins for this offense

Cousins is not playing well but he's not the only player (or coach) that is not doing their jobs very well
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I'm thinking that Cousins is better or we would have traded him for a 4th. I am a little bit baffled also.

Yes we should 100% start him because he's a bum and he'll help us with getting a better draft position.

Make a positive out of a crappy team, why not?

Having top draft picks is only a benefit when you have a GM that can make good picks. Since Allen has only had 1 real draft (since he wasn't a real GM under MS), the jury is still out --- so we'll see.....

As far as the subject at hand ---- I hope the thread is meant as a joke. No way we should start McCoy. His "starter" ship has sailed.

I like cousins, and he shows a lot with his ability to throw down field for big gainers. But what people seem to be forgetting is that he's still green as hell, and for all intent and purpose, still a rookie, experience wise.

I tell you this ... you look at his stats for the few games he has under his belt, and he has more TD throws of over 20 yards already, than Jason Campbell racked up in 5 seasons as the starter.

There is no doubt that Cousins has talent, but he's pressing ... he's forcing things, and trying to make something happen when it isn't there, leading to these turnovers. These are growing pains that are almost guaranteed with young inexperienced QBs, aside from very few gifted exceptions.

Cousins is not a Brady or Manning type talent, and everyone understands that. But he does possess the talent necessary to play and win games. He's also not the entire reason the Redskins are losing right now. There is much blame to spread around.

Jarmarcus Cousins and HeathG3 aren't the answer, why not.

Cousins made some amazing throws in the Philly game, but he just can't close. I have no idea why Colt was even brought on board, but what the heck. Bring Colt in after the third quarter.

The giy has now eclipsed Robert in total ints- yes playing much less games then him.. he also has now thrown more ints then tds.. and has over 8 turnovers in 4 games. That might not be the only reason for our losses but it sure as hell doesnt help

Colt looked decent in preseason- so did Kirk.
I dont think you can hold his record against him as a starter, being on the worst team in the league.
Its not like the giy can do any worse at this point.

I agree Cousins stock probably drops if we bench him... only question is does he make it drop MORE by playing?!?!

I don't think it can hurt much. Cousins is proving to be an interception machine. His picks were costly Sunday and really shot a hole in the Skins' boat at crunch time.

Should we start Mccoy? Abso-freaking-lutely NOT!

Its not all on Kirk nor should we put it all on Kirk in the first place. We should be leaning on Alfred Morris. Then Kirk. Jordan Reed needs to be our main possession receiver with Garcon and Djax as our vertical threats.

We have weapons on offense. They just have to start clicking. Jordan Reed is the key to our passing game opening up more. On crucial third downs Reed should be able to get us more third down conversions. Alfred Morris has to start getting on a roll which he is capable of.

I think a Double tight end formation with Paulson, Reed or Niles Paul. Garcon and Djax as our receivers should be good bread and butter formation in which we can run out of and pass. Mix in some playaction passes deep to Djax, Garcon or Reed. We just need to start doing the basics right. Run the rock for positive yards and the rest should take care of itself. Kirk is capable.

I certainly never implied all our current woes are on Kirk. There are many reasons to start or not start McCoy that have nothing to do with blaming Kirk for his record.

Anyway, I'm enjoying reading the various responses a lot more than I'm enjoying watching the weekly debacle.

Darth is right - starting McCoy would only be considered if that was best for the offense

Cousins has not played great but there are many other reasons for the 1-5 record

Yes we should start Colt McCoy. He's a hidden gem languishing as the third stringer, and we would most likely go on a ten game winning streak with him under center.

Well he did throw for 300+ yards and two TDs in the final preseason game against Tampa Bay. RGIII didn't even PLAY that game. I'm pretty sure this means that McCoy is better suited for the type of offense Gruden wants to run, and coach has been hoping for a chance to get him in there.

The discussion was out there even by the Redskins at one point. Second round sure I would have taken it. In hindsight, it wouldn't have mattered even if we traded him for a forth to the Browns.

these are all facts ....

there was nobody that thought we could get a 2nd or 3rd round pick except fans like me that were wishing & hoping ...

there was no way that Allen and Gruden wanted to let Cousins go although they might have for something more than a 4th ...

there was no franchise that was going to give up a 3rd or 2nd for Cousins

so - we have a very good back up QB despite what some idiots here thought about how good he could be

AND - McCoy is a very good QB to have at this time - I doubt that he gets to start though
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
