Guys from Rivals

Post by DarthMonk »

Over the years we have signed guys from rivals. Some I have loved (Sam Huff). Others I have hated (Deion).

I think I'd be able to cheer for DeSean Jackson much more easily than I never could for Deion.

Anybody remember any other such signings, how they felt about them, and why?

Agreed on Deion. Possibly my least favorite Redskin ever.

Hard to think of many rival signings off the top of my head. I liked what Cornelius Griffin did for us, but he wasn't exactly the centerpiece of that defense.

In general I'm favorably disposed toward seeing DeSean Jackson as a Redskin. Certainly willing to give him a chance.

Agreed on Deion as well my 4th least favorite redskin ever (Desmond Howard, Desmond Howard and Heath Shuler).

I also was pretty pissed with Jeremiah Trotter. I really thought that guy was gonna be good for us.

I can't think of any I have liked. I am not nearly old enough to remember Sam Huff or Sunny Jurgensen.
Hopeful on Jackson, if we sign and if it's not too steep a price.
I know he got a pretty good zip on the ball. He has a quick release. . . once I seen a coupla' throws, I was just like 'Yeah, he's that dude.'"

The Deion deal still pisses me off. The Snyder let him off the hook when he unretired. :explode:

I just didn't like Deion. Period. The fact that he had played for the Cowboys was like eighth on my list of reasons I didn't like him. ugh.

I always had some respect for McNabb even when he was with the Eagles. But I never really liked that move bringing him here to DC, and of course, it turned out worse than any of us probably could have imagined.

I was not very happy when we hired Norv Turner. I want to say we also signed Calvin Hill way back when. He was a good guy and all but he was a freaking Cowboy. For some reason signing Bowen barely bothered me.

:hmm:

Oh snap, I forgot about him and Cofield. I like Cofield, there's my rival signing that I like, also Bowen. We'll see about Hatcher and any other possible rival signees. . .

the way players move around the only thing that really matters is how the team that is on the field is playing TOGETHER ...

I could care less about who is in the uniform as long as he's helping the Redskins when he's on the field ...

not sure about how motivated Jackson will be to play for what Bruce (& the FO) thinks he's worth and not what he thinks he's worth
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Deon by far most definitely. I still remember when he said Jesus told him not to pay his body shop bill. He is a thief.

He screwed us and others.
