read option what 16 times?.......way too much. no the line gave no time. gave thw D no breaks...RG3 will not play 16 games with the cureent game plan.
We won time of posession, had 31 first downs, and scored a lot (again) while rushing for 213 yards. I'm pretty sure the defense kinda sucks. Maybe not though. We only gave up 478 yards, 3 explosion plays, and 38 points.
Good grief.
We did run the option too often though.

I'm like the Redskins, I have no defense for that defense

By my count, we've given up 11 touchdowns by passing in three games and are certainly the worse team on D in the NFL. We're virtually defenseless. The worse coaching move Sunday in regard to play calling was, late in the game, not going for a first down when we were midfield. It was perfectly obvious at that point that if we punted, the Bengals were going to score. It was also obvious that we would have made the first down. Our only chance was to score at every opportunity, which was more than just possible, as we realized too late.
The worse mistake of the season was Kyle S. failure to control his temper when the game was on the line. His behavior truly wiped us out, just as Morgan's did last week. Two straight losses attributable to unsportsmanlike conduct. It is beyond belief. I have followed the Skins since 1953 and have never before seen anything so moronic.
The worse mistake of the past was the shift to the 3-4. We haven't had a decent defense since then.
The worse mistake going forward would be to stick with the triple option. RG111 might not survive it.
I do not look forward to the rest of the season. I think it will be disastrous , with the bad new coming from many directions.
We are a poor pass blocking team and inconsistent in blocking for the run.
We are the worse team in the league on defense. The only thing that can save us from 4-12 is RG111 and he might not be with us the whole season.
I'd like to kick Garcon's butt-- if it's true that playing would not further injure his foot. I've heard that his problem is only a pain problem, If true, it means we have a Garcon problem. We already have a wide receiver problem.
The guys are not getting separation. If Garcon turns out to be a dog, we're truly damned.
I want to see Shanny gone. We deserve better than we've been getting. I do like his decision to explore uses for Banks. By the way, I hope the case for Banks to remain a Skin has now been made. Some of you guys should be eating crow.
Fess up, dudes.

I agree too, up to the point about seeing Shanahan gone, unless we're talking about Kyle rather than Mike? I'm not yet at the point where I want Mike gone, but I've always had a problem with Kyle, if only because I don't think it makes for a good dynamic when the OC is the HC's son. I question whether Mike holds Kyle accountable for his actions to the extent that he would if he was Fred Blogs from Wisconsin.
But Kyle obviously isn't our biggest problem anyway, aside from the fact that he's going to get RGIII killed.
I point the finger at the defence. Aren't I observant?! Lol.

This speculation about Mike and Kyle is so freaking tired. Its like people are watching Real Housewives of NFL instead of professional football. Give me a break.

Seriously, and if you look at what Kyle has done in three games this year with a rookie QB, almost an entirely new receiving corps and an O-line that still has issues, even more so.

+1. THANK YOU.
Fans are complaining that Mike can't judge Kyle properly because he is his son. And then the fans are turning around and not judging Kyle properly because he is the coach's son!

Sorry, god forbid that I should speculate on here. Didn't realise it was forbidden

I don't spend my life on here, so didn't realise the subject had been discussed ad nauseum in my absence. I'll go away and beat myself with a stick now.

What I don't understand is that everyone knew that our greatest weaknesses coming into the season were DB and OL --- and we are seeing the results.
Defensively, you are only as good as your weakest group (DBs, LBs, DL). The weakest group -- and we have the WORST secondary in the NFL -- will be consistently abused throughout the year. Due to our horrendous DB situation, this will create more pressure on the DL to get to the QB quicker. This will result in our DC bringing in more LBs or forcing our DLs to play outside. Both aren't good situations to be in.
Offensively, we have an OL that can't provide adequate protection to RGIII -- which will result in a shortened offense with quick passing plays or gimmicks like the "pistol" formation. Either way, RGIII will get hit hard and often.
That said, we have known this was going to be an issue coming into the season, so I'm not sure now why people expect something different.
This is the bed years of poor FO drafting has created. We have to sleep in it until things are fixed. Lets just hope that RGIII doesn't get seriously hurt before then.

I'm a very sensitive flower Kaz. I hide it well usually, but sometimes, you know, words can really hurt (bursts into tears).
I had to go for a nice cup of tea and a chocolate digestive biscuit after my earlier outburst

You're right - it's definitely more like you than me, lol. Having said that, I really don't recall the subject of the Mike/Kyle dynamic being discussed to death here. But I didn't pay much attention to the boards for the best part of a year - hence my unreserved apology to the whole universe for my utter stupidity.

Point the mid-finger at our 2ndary.
We have a bunch of "smurfs" on our 2ndary.
Look at Seahawks:
Maxwell, Byron CB 6-1 207
Sherman, Richard CB 6-3 195
Chancellor, Kam SS 6-3 232
Guy, Winston SS 6-1 218
ARE YOU KIDDING ME? These guys are BIG AND FAST....will make trouble for Andre Johnson, Calvin, and Larry.....
WHY CAN'T WE DRAFT LIKE THIS.....???

No disrespect intended and I didn't meant to attack you personally, my man.
Living in the DC area, I just feel like we get bombarded with this completely unfounded speculation about Kyle Shanahan around here. It seems to be this idea that people have latched on to. I guarantee you on any given Monday after a Redskins loss, you can flip on the radio and hear fans calling in to complain about Kyle.
If folks want to argue that we need to get rid of Kyle Shanahan, then I want facts. I want to hear that the offense was ranked 23 last year and 31 this year. I want to hear that RGIII has regressed under his guidance. What I don't want to hear is this girlish chatter about the paternal feelings of protection between a dad and his son. I don't even know if that stuff is true. (Any of you guys coach your children in sports? I don't know about you guys, but I am WAY tougher on my own kids.)
The NFL is FULL of fathers/sons/brothers coaching and working together.

We're cool Riggo. As Kazoo suggested, I was having a bad hair day
One of the benefits of living more than 3,500 miles away from DC is that I don't have to listen to your 24 hours sports radio and its endless cycle of regurgitated hysteria. (I suppose I could listen online, but have better things to do, lol). So, I haven't had my fill of the Kyle debate yet!
But, this thread really shouldn't be about Kyle, because he's not the reason we've lost the last two games. That's the fault of every player in our secondary, Jim Haslett, Raheem Morris, and Mr John Mara.
