Practice Squad...???

I think I know what their purpose is, but can someone really BREAK IT DOWN for me...???

1. do they get paid regular pay or lower than 53 squad?
2. are they in the locker room during game day?
3. are they an "on call" basis?
4. is this like the "farm" system in MLB...?

Break it down, Ya'll..............

3. Not sure what this means. Any team can sign any PS player, but it has to be to the 53 man roster.

so they practice with team consistently, but don't suit up on game days.
They just wait until someone gets banged up...........then BAMM...they may get called up to fill in...?

I got that right?
