Redskins.com: 2004 Draft Preview: 10 Players to Watch

Post by ANT7088 »

If it’s April, then it must be time for the NFL Draft. This year, the Redskins hold the fifth overall pick in the first round, meaning that the team has a chance to acquire a certifiable franchise player and an immediate impact player.

The last time the Redskins held a pick this high was in 2000 when the team had the second and third overall picks. Pro Bowlers LaVar Arrington and Chris Samuels were chosen and have become mainstays on the Redskins.

The Redskins, who also currently have second-day picks in the fifth and sixth rounds, have needs along the defensive line, at safety and at tight end. The team could draft depth at several other positions—head coach Joe Gibbs has acquired several players already this offseason for depth purposes.

But the player drafted in the first round will be expected to contribute immediately, perhaps as a starter.

This year promises to be one of the most talent-rich draft classes ever. The following 10 prospects are likely to go early in the first round. They are listed in no particular order.....

My goodness, if that safety is comparable to Ed Reed as this preview says, we'd be stupid not to take him.
