I know you came here looking for a funny picture of some dude with a bowl hairdo, but I just heard on ESPN, that Godahell is considering cutting the Pro-Bowl. I don't think the players union would stand for that, but they've been strong-armed into doing stupid stuff before.
Cutting the Pro Bowl based on game quality would be another ill-thought out and ridiculous thing to do. The Pro Bowl is essentially a showcase. A showcase. Not even an exhibition. A showcase. People want to see a lot of scoring and trick plays--fun.
As a result, there's going to be awful defense. You can't have guys laying each other out for a game that means nothing, especially when you don't get much money for winning.
The game is more of an honor for a season of performance and sacrifice, not an opportunity to de-cleat people on contact.
Goodell says he's all about player safety, yet some of the most drastic things he's trying to do is take exhibition games and make them more competitive (extending the regular season) and making the Pro Bowl a grudge match.
