Current Salary Cap Position !!!

Here the list of team by team cap space as of yesterday.

The Redskins are somewhere between $6.8M and $7.6M under the cap... but what caught my eye was the fact that when free agency opened two weeks ago and the Redskins came out the gate $18.4M short of what they thought they would have to work with.

They have released two players:

S OJ Atogwe
FB Mike Sellers

Retained seven players:

OC Will Montgomery: 4 Years, $12 Million
DE Darion Scott: 2 Years, $1.4 Million
TE Fred Davis: Franchise Tagged
OG Kory Litchtensteiger: $1.2 Million
K Graham Gano, 1 Year Tender, $540K
DE Adam Carriker, 4 years, $20 million with a, $7 million bonus
QB Rex Grossman, 1 Year Deal

Signed four players:

WR Pierre Garcon
WR Josh Morgan
S Brandon Meriweather
CB Cedric Griffin

All this is normal for the Redskins and every other team what I think is odd is there are 26 teams currently have less cap space than what was stolen from the Skins a hour before they could spend it.

well I thnk that speaks columes for our FO. gone are the days of " cap hell" we were all but conditioned to belive was the norm. great job Bruce & Mike. Now if they can get back the money stolen by John Mara....we'll be good.

That'll be funny too...
When they get the space back they'll more than likely do what they lost the money for doing in the first place.

They'll rework contracts and dump money into this year to eat up some of the recouped cap space to lower their cap in future years. They'll still be able to carryover what's left anyway but it just makes sense to do it as a way to flip off the Gnats and Rodger
