Landry Is Leaving!
Don't know how accurate this source is but I hope its wrong!
Update
Redskins Free Agency 2012: Safety LaRon Landry Leaving, According To Report
It appears there will finally be some resolution to the "is he staying or is he going" conversation regarding Washington Redskins safety LaRon Landry. Via the National Football Post's Sunday Blitz:
It was a mutual decision between LaRon Landry and the Redskins to divorce. Landry will be leaving as a free agent. The Redskins made a decision to move on from the gifted safety in part because Landry has not stayed healthy. He still is recovering from an Achilles injury that landed him on injured reserve. Landry did not have surgery on the injury as the team advised him to do. Landry, meanwhile, is looking for a fresh start in a new environment. It is likely he will sign a short term deal.
This parting of ways between Washington and Landry has been speculated in circles for quite some time, so it shouldn't come as much as a surprise, though there will certainly be many Redskins fans sad to see the hard-hitting safety leave town.

Landry has only ever been about a quarter of the player that Taylor was. That's not his fault, but the fact that he refuses to do what he needs to to get healthy is. Don't get me wrong - his departure will leave a hole that needs to be filled - but I'm still more worried about the free safety position. We have never come close to replacing #21.

One among several similar links.
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!
Wish we could keep him around on the cheap, but I guess that's not going to happen. He had great energy and aggression, something that's missing on this team, imho.
The downside: he's like the Colt Brennan of safeties: he shows flashes and everyone talks about his potential. Problem is, it's been years and it's still flashes and potential. Moving on.

Per PFT, the NY Jets are interested in signing Laron Landry.

The 3-4 requires a playmaking safety like Polamalu. Landry is as close as we are gonna get to that. C'mon Shanahan, Dejon Gomes better be a beast.

Why would we let this guy go?? He's going to be had for relatively cheap and we have nobody better??LaRon Landry is likely to leave the Redskins in free agency after five years in Washington. The Jets may be his destination.
The Jets have made a few contract moves to position themselves to be aggressive when free agency starts on Tuesday, and Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com reports that they’re expected to show interest in Landry.
Safety is a position that Jets coach Rex Ryan would like to upgrade on his defense, so Landry makes sense there. He also makes sense if the Jets are planning to enter their players in any bodybuilding competitions.
Landry has always been a starter when healthy, but he hasn’t always been healthy. He has missed 15 games in the last two years with Achilles, groin and hamstring injuries.

What difference does it make how good Landry is if he isn't on the field! Since he wont be healthy next season why bother. The Hogster wrote:Per PFT, the NY Jets are interested in signing Laron Landry.

I may be naive, but there is a chance that he will be healthy next year and more importantly in the future years. He's relatively young, and even if he's only good for 8 games this year, he could be a big part of our team over the next 4-5 years. Troy Polamalu has been consistently injured as well. He's good to miss games every year. But, he's so good while he is playing that it's doable. I think Landry has that kind of ability.skinsfan#33 wrote:What difference does it make how good Landry is if he isn't on the field! The writing was on the wall - Landry isn't happy with the medical staff and I think is disgruntled in general. Shanahan seems upset about a phone call he did or didn't receive from Landry and was in the dark as far as what was happening with the injury.
Irreconcilible differencies basically (I probably spelt that wrong, its very late here now!).
I'm gutted that he's going, I think he adds so much to the team including energy and leadership.
I'm with you Hogster, we need to give him another shot and show him support. Despite his injuries there will be a lot of interested teams, that says a lot. When he's on point he's dynamite.

While I see your point on Polamalu's health, I disagree on their comparative ability. I think hairball is twice the player that Landry is when they are both healthy. Actually, Troy dinged a little is a better player than a healthy Landry! The Hogster wrote:I may be naive, but there is a chance that he will be healthy next year and more importantly in the future years. Leaving
Mixed feelings here. While he is a hard hitter, he has health issues, and apparently disagreed on surgery option to deal with his injury. For the most part this past season, he was a non-factor.......with the exception of a couple of typical ESPN highlight hits. But, I also remember Desean Jackson blowing by him in the Monday Night Massacre.......
I would not have minded having him back onboard if the price was right, but just don't really feel that depressed if he goes. Good luck to him, and hopefully we will get a healthy body to replace him.

Ya now, if the guy was healthy I may be more interested in keeping him.
If the guy wasn't out if position on so many double moves or missed tackles, I would be upset at his departure.
If the Fletcher didn't go ape spit last year when caught out of position to indicate that this clearly isn't the first time, I would be upset about his departure.
If this guy listened to the team and got surgery, I may be more upset that he was leaving.
So, really, I'm at the point with this guy that I say...adios

With a heavy heart, my response is, good riddance.
I'm tired of everyone bitching and moaning about being a redskin. If you're not in, get the F out. We've got Franchise QBs to draft and games to win. I can't wait to finally be on the laughing end of "we'll see who gets the last laugh"

-Santana Moss on Our QBI know he got a pretty good zip on the ball. He has a quick release. . . once I seen a coupla' throws, I was just like 'Yeah, he's that dude.'"

Carlos Rogers claimed that he knew "so many guys" on this team that wanted out. I'd be willing to bet he's exaggerating on the "so many" part, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he had Landry in mind.
I wish it were otherwise, but if it's true that Landry is holding onto grudges and doesn't care to be here, then I really don't have a problem seeing him go.

Shame, too... because it was obvious that Haslett knew how to use him, to get the most from him... but, yeah... if he's not investing... go on... go...Irn-Bru wrote:Carlos Rogers claimed that he knew "so many guys" on this team that wanted out. Getting burned by Desean Jackson on Monday Night Football two years ago makes me want to say, "Good Riddance".

I can't join in with fans saying "good riddance". Landry wasn't always perfect at safety, but he also plays one of those positions where when you make a mistake its usually in the spotlight.
Landry was one of the few highlights the past few years with the way he was willing to hit people. You just know how nervous the other team was when they knew LL was around them on the field.
I won't be happy to see him go, but I hope he gets better and continues his career. DEFINITELY won't be looking forward to playing against him, so I hope his next home isn't Philly or Dallas.
