Anybody who followed the late '50s and early '60s Redskins will remember Alex Webster. Dangerous and tough right halfback when teams played LHB, FB, RHB, teamed with Mel Tripplet (FB) and Frank Gifford (LHB and the shifty runner / receiver) to crush the Skins game after game. When Lombardi popularized the "twin big back" offense, Gifford moved to slotback and Webster did most of the running.
Farewell, Alex...even though you helped to beat my team meany times -- along with Sam Huff and others -- you were among the very best.
