Manning cleared to play

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Agreed. And even more so after finally having an actually good off-season last year and a reason to believe we can do it again. I'm excited because we're not chasing big names with bad characters and we're drafting well.

The team made a lot of strides last year, but we have a lot of holes still. If we focus on holes and not big name splashes we'll make more strides next year. The one big name I would like to inquire about though is Peyton to see what it'll take. I don't want to break the bank, but we aren't the death trap players avoid like a lot of our "fans" keep insisting we are.

Another factor is that one thing that I don't think was fully recognized was how guys like Leron, Chris and Jamaal who had lingering issues were greatly impacted by not getting rehab last year. Now they get a full offseason of treatment to get well.

I agree with this too Kaz

this FO has not been great but they have changed A LOT OF THINGS here

this franchise is fast becoming a place that free agents would like to come and be a part of - where they understand that they will be rewarded for their efforts rather than just a chance to make a small fortune with very little effort

Mike & Bruce have made it plain that they will not tolerate just showing up and getting paid

I would not be averse to Manning getting a shot - the FO will pursue any and all opportunities to fix the QB issue here

last season, for a number of reasons, we saw players get a chance to show what they can do that might not have happened - we will be adding many more

EVERYONE is accountable here - this show is going to be fun to be a part of again AND soon

hopefully these guys keep finding players that are very determined to earn AND then keep their spots on the roster

you don't want it bad enough here .... you're gone :D
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I didn't learn anything new once I looked past the headlines....

1. Dr. Robert Watkins, who performed the last surgery was hand picked by the Mannings and is based out of Marina del Rey Ca. he an his son have been practicing sports medicine all over the US... Was he going to come out and say "I repaired he neck twice and it's still not fixed?

2. The Colts don't have a neurosurgeon on staff so the statement that "Colts neurosurgeon Dr. Hank Feuer cleared Manning to play", isn't totally truthful statement.

FTR: Dr. Feuer is one of the Colt's team physicians... Manning hasn't had a team physical since the start of the 2011 League season.

3. Points 1 & 2 are confirmed by Jim Irsay's tweet that "Peyton has not passed our physical nor has he been cleared to play for The Indianapolis Colts."

4. The Doctor's statements aren't anything new...

4a. Watkins' statement read... "Peyton Manning underwent a thorough medical re-evaluation as part of a postoperative visit with his surgeon, "As a result of this examination, Manning is medically cleared to play professional football."... This refers to his December visit, the same one that cleared him to start throwing again.

4b. Dr. Robert Watkins' statement that "the stability in his neck would have allowed Manning to play this Sunday, if the nerves in his arm had regenerated to a satisfactory performance level" isn't taken in it's entirety... So I'll break it down, His neck is stable enough for him to play IF he could satisfactory throw the football, OR hr can play football as long as he doesn't have to throw the ball.

4c. Here's the December statement: "There remains every indication that his recovery will continue. There still is no timetable for Peyton's return to practice, which is one of many steps in his expected return to game action. He is working hard on a rehabilitation program outlined in conjunction with myself, Erin Barill and Peyton. His response to this plan in the future will dictate his return date." <---- NOTHING NEW other than Peyton's arm strength has not improved since Peyton began throwing again.

5. "It's not a safety issue; it's a performance issue." and 5a. Manning still cannot pinpoint a date when his performance will reach an acceptable level to him. It might take up to May 23, 2011...

MAY 2012??? If memory serves me Free Agency starts in MARCH and the the Draft is in APRIL and he might not know if he can actually play until MAY. The QB hungry teams of the NFL can not wait until May to address the most important need on their rosters to see if Manning can still throw all the passes needed to play on the NFL level.

That's actually a good thing for the skins. That means they will definitely have to stick to their draft plans before even contemplating signing PM to a FA contract.

Shefty knows Shanny from his time in Denver. He may KNOW the inside scoop.

.....BUT, it doesn't mean we WILL land him.

If Peyton Manning is released, Redskins are expected to pursue him. Redskins also prepared to pursue free agents Matt Flynn and Kyle Orton.

If w sign KO, that signals to me that we are definitely taking a QB high on the draft! Orton is a serviceable QB that would only be signed to be a stop gap. An improvement over Rex and insurance if the QB w draft can't start right away our gets injured.

I don't see the point in switching from Grossman to Orton if we get a rookie

Hey I agree with you, but Orton is a clear cut improvement over Rex.

Absolutely. Clearly has better judgment than Grossman.

umm... but, that's not the same as saying I'd be thrilled with Orton in lieu of Grossman... or a candidate for our franchise QB of the future.
