A trip down memory lane...
Don't know if you guys have seen this or not, but the Washington Post did a great retrospective commemorating the 20th Anniversary of the Redskins 1991-1992 season that culminated with a win in Super Bowl XXVI. Ah, the memories...

It appears that the Washington Post is gonna be dumb and limit what you can see with out signing up... lame!
So here's a link to see the "America's Game - 1992 Redskins" on Hulu:

Nostalgia ... that's all that is left for good'ol Skins fans.
I have nothing but disdain for what Daniel Snyder did to this proud franchise.

Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

This Redskin team also won ESPN's "Super League."
I think this was truly one of the best teams ever. It had no weaknesses.

Being in D.C. I saw it. And, I remember it--not quite like yesterday, but vividly. I'm 31, but I have been an avid Skins fan since I can remember like having a memory. I remember the 42-10 Superbowl win versus the Broncos. And, I even remember that 85 Bears rap video with Walter Payton. Anyway, this 'commemorative' article is good, but it's also a sad reminder that its been 20 years. 20 Years since we've been Champs. And, 20 Years since we've been close to being Champs. That's a humbling reminder.
SPIT HAPPENS!!

And whose had to deal with 20+ years of old timers reminisce about when the team was actually good.Chris Luva Luva wrote:And nothing for those of us who don't remember it.Redskin in Canada wrote:Nostalgia ... that's all that is left for good'ol Skins fans.

The '91 team was probably the best team in the history of the NFL. Those rankings above are a joke, and show just how underrated that team was.In 2007, NFL Films produced a series on the top Super Bowl teams of all time and ranked the 1991 Redskins at No. 14. That same year ESPN ranked the ’91 Redskins as the 10th-best Super Bowl winner.
That Super League competition shows what we've always known.

Watching these video's remind me of how long ago it was. In my mind it doesnt seem that long. I agree, that 91 team was as dominant as any Ive ever seen. Around 1980 was when I started getting into football. I wore #40 my senior year in high school because Alvin Walton was my guy, still one of my all time favorite players. Man I miss those days.
It doesnt seem like 20 years. Knowing that makes me sad for younger fans that just dont know.

So apparently ESPN did a "Super League" featuring 16 of the most dominant Super Bowl champions squaring off over a full season to determine the best team of the era. Accuscore simulated each matchup 10,000 times and produced one single box score that typifies the most common result. After a 15-week regular season, the top two teams will square off in the most super of Super Bowls.
The simulated '91 Redskins finished 1st with a record of 10-5, and defeated the '92 Cowturds in the Championship 23-17.

See the full article:ESPN wrote:One of the most underrated teams in NFL history had finally earned a little respect. The '91 Redskins were a dominant team. Coached by Joe Gibbs, they led the NFL in scoring and allowed the second-fewest points. They led the NFL in rushing attempts and yards per passing attempt, as Mark Rypien had a terrific season with 28 TD passes and only 11 interceptions. Green and Charles Mann led the defense. The team lost only twice -- 24-21 to Dallas and 24-22 to Philadelphia in the season finale when the Eagles rallied against Redskins reserves. It crushed Buffalo 37-24 in the Super Bowl. (Two late Buffalo scores made the game appear closer than it actually was.)

It's sad... I never really thought about it that way. It really does make me respect younger Skins fans that much more.Cappster wrote:And whose had to deal with 20+ years of old timers reminisce about when the team was actually good.Chris Luva Luva wrote:And nothing for those of us who don't remember it.Redskin in Canada wrote:Nostalgia ... that's all that is left for good'ol Skins fans.
I was a kid when we won those Lombardi trophies (I was in Jr. High '91-'92), but my memory of those wins is still very good.
I'm looking forward to when this franchise can get back to a level of respect it once had.
It is rather humbling though to think that, as The Hogster pointed out, it has been 20 years. Yikes!

I remain optimistic that this team can and will turn it around... someday.
