Skins/Rams post game thread
Eagles, Cowboys and 'Skins all had 17-point leads. 'Skins were the only team to hang on for the win

I'm just glad the running game got going. Welcome back Ryan Torain!aswas71788 wrote:Not a pretty win but a win. Are we tired of Grossman yet? he almost cost the game today with his turnovers. Don't know if Beck would be any better but I would sure like to find out.
Rex is gonna give me a heart attack!

It's about that time, and they have a bye coming up. It's the perfect time to make the switch.

Disagree. I don't think you junk your starting QB and create an overnight controversy AGAIN just because he's streaky. We knew that going in. Not to mention the first pick wasn't his fault - Santana just botched the catch.
Rex will be alright. Hey, we're THREE and ONE. As my pappy used to say, it beats the heck out of a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

Not a bad idea to get him some reps this week and see how he does. The Skins have such a great chance of competing this year. They don't NEED a qb who can win it by himself, but rather someone who's not gonna give it away.
I'm all about being patient and that one pick was not Rex's fault, but that shovel pass across his body along with a few other bad decisions were.
We need a smart qb who can manage the game and keep the defense honest enough to open up the ground game.
Could be an interesting week at practice.

I still think this team doesn't have an identity yet. There were times where we should have stuck with the run (or even open up the game with a run). I just think Kyle is a bit "pass happy." I don't really mind his play calls that much because I know that if he had an above average QB then we might score 30+ points in a game.

He had some horrible errors today and threw for...143. Far cry from 300...
Yeah, my bad, I just checked the stats.
Regardless of how bad he played, I don't think the logical choice it to make a QB switch right now.
didn't we know what we were getting with him. He has ALWAYS had bad throws. If he played flawless people would still find a reason to want a switch.
Beck is on the bench for a reason, and the reason is because he is not as good as Grossman.

What was learned today from the past two weeks is what Shanahan has had in mind all along. The Zone Blocking scheme requires to run certain plays such as the stretch play that can break a big one, but more importantly helps to wear down the defense. Then when you have them tired bring on the beast who will finish off the tired defense mostly up the middle or just off the guard. In essence they are probing the line for weakness. I suspect we will see Hightower start most games and then Torrain comes in if Hightower isn't getting it done. Both players have strengths and weaknesses. Torrain doesn't run the stretch play as well as Hightower, but is more a bruising straight ahead runner. And as we all know, his bruising type play makes him vulnerable to injury. It's nice to have a stable of good running backs and we'll see how much of a difference it makes once they play the next game on real grass.

I think we do have an identity: Very good defense that keeps us in the game with a mediocre QB and decent but not great running game.

I do like how our defense has been bailing Rex out for his mistakes.

Rex has gotten worse in each game. I've been a supporter of his, but today was definitely a game we won in spite of him. Even though I supported Rex after the hot start, I've always been puzzled by the decision to go with him over Beck.
IMO, Beck is far superior in terms of physical conditioning and athleticism. I think he's a better player. We've won 3 games on the strength of the D, not offensive execution. Changing QB's isn't going to destroy us.

Some people are never happy...
Moss doesn't miss the easy pass and we score a FG or TD and use up more clock...not Grossman's fault. Hightower makes the easy catch on 3rd and 3 and we continue our drive, not Grossman's fault.
He makes the throw that their LB picks off, great catch, bad pass. Not sure why we weren't running Torain then though, Grossman's fault.
Stay with him. We have NO drama this year, we don't need or want it, go with him, run the ball a lot, play good defense, hope Banks gets going and get ready for the Eagles at home!
Good win on the road -- remember last year, they beat us by 14, different year and wayyy different team!
the 5 new defensive players are really good!!!
Go Skins...

I guess. I just can't really think that he'd really be any worse. Grossman was horrific today. He had a 48.5 passer rating. More troubling was that you just cannot trust him, at all, to make a throw when needed. If that's the case, how could Beck (or heck, anyone) be a worse choice?
