Raymer, Rasby, Thrash . . .

Post by Magoo »

Raymer, Rasby, Thrash . . . who's next? It seems like we're trying to erase the Spurrier era by re-signing all the guys he drove out of town.

Any thoughts on what ex-Skin is next to rejoin the team?

Too bad Brain Mitchell hates Mr. Snyder - he'd be my vote hands down.

How great would it have been to see Davis running the Counter-Trey? Wham!

I'd be bummed about him being gone if I didn't dig the Portis trade so much.

Nah. You're okay. DG is revered by some, hence the pickiness. Smilies won't help. Maybe you could just go with #28 as a reference. Likely, there won't ever be another one.
I'd probably jump on a "Ross Grim", an "Art Munk" or a "LavernesandShirleyus Coals", but that's just me. :)

I'll probably regret bringing this up, but I saw Brian Mitchell interviewed on the NFL Network last week and they asked him straight out whether he'd like to return to the Redskins. He said he still lives in Virginia and would love to finish his career with the Redskins playing for Joe Gibbs again.

Translation: No one's returning his phone calls.

You know I've always been a B.Mitchell fan but i think last year or the year before he got into a shoving match with someone on the skins. I lost all respect for him after that.

Mitchell was fighting with Trotter - apparently telling him that his undisciplend play was what got him shipped out of Philly . . . looks like he and Gibbs are on the same page as far as that goes!

I was very angry when we got rid of B. Mitchell. he was my fave player next to #28 a few years ago. i would be ecstatic if we re-signed him. how much of an impact would he make though???

If Brian Mitchell comes back, joining Thrash and Morton on special teams, can Mike Nelms and Herb Mul-Key be far behind?

I'd like to see Mitchell come back just because it'd be kinda fitting.

Finally, I'll be unpopular for this, but as far as Darrell Green, he's not quite the legend of wonderfulness that he's always cracked up to be. He's more a self-promoter than people realize and I'm fairly certain he doesn't trust anyone over the age of 12. He does GREAT things for area kids, and that cannot be ignored. But, let's just say, one must meet a certain criteria for his "legendary" niceness to show. And it ain't politeness.

I'm actually just gonna shut up now. Thinking about it, folks on this board don't need their heroes trashed. And for about 17 of his 20 seasons he was a phenominal player.

Have you forgotten that Stephen Alexander is still available?
We could use a one dementional cry baby TE.

I am not convinced that any of the move we made on the DL have been upgrades.

Remember fans when we talk about holes on the defense that this is NOT a one year plan. Our defensive coaches are going to have to attempt some smoke and mirrors (ie. blitzes) to cover up for for the line. I pray we can keep the defensive injuries to a minimum since many of the FA's we signed are coming off surgery. My toes are just thawing out from the Giants game.

AHHH .... the oft injured, drop-sey plagued Stephen Alexander. I was so glad when we finally cut our losses with him.

On Brian Mitchell...

let's just say that I have it on REALLY good authority that it is NOT out of the realm of possibility... at all.

I don't know where the $$$ would come from, or how we could justify having Morton, Thrash and Mitchell for ST... but I know that BM would put aside past feelings, and I can even provide you with a paraphrase from Brian as to why, 'I'd do anything for Coach Gibbs.'

I'm actually working on getting a word with Brian, so hopefully I can ask him myself.

then it seems like a no-brainer for me. pick him up at the vet minimum, get a restraining order to keep dan snyder away from him, and get him in there to teach the young guys what it means to be a redskin.

I loved Brian Mitchell he is still some gas left in the tank. But we dont need him now we have Morton and Now Thrask to return kicks and punts. Also there was a bad fallout between Danny Boy and Brian Mitchell and although Brian loved playing for the Redskins! I do not think he wants to play for Synder! Regardless Brian was one of my favorite players. He had great heart and never stepped down to anyone despite him being so small!

sometimes it's more than just what position a guy can play, and whether or not that spot is full. we might not need bmitch to return kicks, but one could argue that we need his locker room attitude and leadership. and i'm sure he can still knock the crap out of guys on special teams, even if he's not returning kicks.

not to mention that he's a fan favorite, and we all know how poor the attendance is at skins games!

theres still only 53 allowed on the roster. i don't see where there is room for him. we have 4 RB's, 5 if you actually count sultan, and two return guys.

If Mitchell returns, I would like to see him return as an assistant special teams coach (not player). He was good...but the key word here is "was". Let him sign a "token" contract to retire with the team...and then hire him as a coach! How's that for a suggestion?

couldn't we dump trung? i've been hearing all offseason that he could be cut for cap room all offseason anyways... if portis, god forbid, ever get hurt... Betts should be a good enough fit to fill in for him...

that would give us portis, betts, morton, mitchell, and sultan if you count him..

trung wouldn't help the team much more than mitchell on the field... but mitchell would help the team mentally much more than trung would...

we could dump trung. but why. i'd rather have trung right now than mitchell. there's a reason he's unemployed. did you happen to see him play for the gnats last year? i understand the loyalty factor, but in no way shape or form would brian help the team at this point.
