Not too sure I like this move. Rocky is a good guy and all, but he just didn't fit the 3-4, he seemed lost and I thought he had admitted to that?
However there are some rumors around saying Henson is overweight and out of shape, so maybe they had to bring him back?

He's not a natural fit, but he's not the fish out of water that Andre was either. I can't imagine we gave him big money. If we did then I'd say it was a mistake, but if he was signed money to be part of the rotation then I think it was good. Sure, there are 3-4 and 4-3 players, but some just get too carried away with you're tattooed as one and ergo you're useless to the other.InsaneBoost wrote:Not too sure I like this move. I thought he meant players the team wanted back, not players certain fans did. The majority of the fans didn't want Rogers back either, particularly for what he was looking for to do it.frankcal20 wrote:Rogers off the top of my head.

True, I don't think he's the worst, but thought there would have been a better option, of course though, it could just be a one-year fix till the draft or something.KazooSkinsFan wrote:He's not a natural fit, but he's not the fish out of water that Andre was either. I like Rocky a lot, don't get me wrong, just don't think he's as good in the 3-4 as he was in the 4-3, but then again he was drafted for the 4-3. Hopefully, if he makes the team, he improves. Would love to have him here, but so far I haven't been that impressed.
Rocky definitely will have to fight to keep his starting job.ILB Perry Riley drew cheers from linebackers coach Lou Spanos after filling the proper gap and stopping a running play during team drills. Rocky McIntosh, who Riley is replacing, got caught in the wrong gaps too frequently last season. If Riley masters his responsibilities, it would be an upgrade. That’ll come with experience, but Riley is off to a good start.

And he has a year in the systemChris Luva Luva wrote:Great move to bring him back. We're still another year or two away from completely converting to the 3-4. We need solid backups and there won't be a better backup available than him. He won't start, it's a 1 year deal, it's cheap insurance.

The road to the number 1 pick gaining speed!

I'm sorry because he was a local kid but he was just not good enough and he was a part of an atrocious line under one of the best O line coaches EVER
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

What does this mean for Rocky?
Redskins add LB Keyaron FoxT, 08/06/2011

*We don't Sign Tatupu, but interest was there in a possible starter
It seems that Shanny and Haz were determined to bring in another Linebacker and Fox was probably told that he could compete for the starting job as an incentive to come here. Leave a Super Bowl team for a "rebuilding" team? (OK, maybe a little more more helped as well).
*Article says Riley not ready
*We all know Rocky has something to prove as a 3-4 guy.
Fox knows the Defense and his assignments. Our defense is modeled after Pittsburgh's defense. Lou Spanos, our linebackerr coach was is coach in Pittsburgh. I don't think that Fox is being brought in here to just be a back up.
We now have ILB candidates:
Fletcher - Do I need to say anything?
Fox - Starter? Not handed to him, but does Rocky have a chance against him? Fox backed up Farrior and Timmons for those who want to know why he wasn't a starter in Pittsburgh.
Rocky - ?
Riley - ST, Back up
Alexander ILB/OLB - Mr. Everything - Makes the team
Blades - ST, Back up - Makes the team
Obi Ezeh (Undrafted Rookie) - Practice Squad? - Is he another reason why Henson was released?
If we only keep four ILB's - where does this leave Rocky?

Redskins add LB Keyaron FoxT, 08/06/2011

*Released Henson - only want so many LBs in camp? The Washington Redskins have added another veteran to their linebacking corps, signing Keyaron Fox, according to a person familiar with the situation confirmed.
Fox, an eighth-year pro, has spent the last two seasons as a backup inside linebacker and special teams captain for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The 6-foot-3, 235-pound Fox last season recorded 23 tackles on defense.
Fox could compete for the starting inside linebacker spot next to defensive captain London Fletcher. The Redskins re-signed last year’s starter Rocky McIntosh to a one-year deal, but he isn’t as ideal a fit in the 3-4 as coaches would like, and second-year pro Perry Riley has been auditioning for the job. But defensive coordinator Jim Haslett this week indicated that Riley still is a ways off in his development.
Washington on Saturday morning released inside linebacker Robert Henson, who spent all of last season on injured reserve. The team this week had free agent Lofa Tatupu in for a visit, but the middle linebacker left without signing a contract.

My guess is that it'll mean he still starts game one but there's going to be more rotation early in the season and competition for playing time based on who's getting the job doneRed_One43 wrote:What does this mean for Rocky?
