http://www.rotoworld.comRedskins acquired RB Tim Hightower from the Cardinals in exchange for DE Vonnie Holiday and a conditional late-round pick.
Hightower wore thin on the Cardinals coaching staff with five fumbles in back-to-back seasons. Though he's a reliable pass-catcher, Hightower has been one of the least effective backs with the ball in hands, failing to top 7.0 yards per reception since entering the league in 2008. Regardless, he's a good bet to take over the passing-down role in Mike Shanahan's offense, further clouding the backfield picture. Ryan Williams will see immediate playing time in Arizona, playing on passing downs over Beanie Wells.

... apparently, character has some trade value.cleg wrote:We got more for Holiday than we did for either McNabb or Haynesworth.

I wonder if the condition is weather or not he makes the team.1niksder wrote:It was a conditional late-round pick
Anyone know how he is at blitz pickup?
He certainly isn't an ever down back, but is a very good short yardage runner (ege he holds onto the ball).

If he doesn't make the team Arizona won't get a draft pickskinsfan#33 wrote:

That might be why Vonnie was included in the deal.

If the D-line was bad last year.... how is it that Bruce Allen is able to trade them for anything?
3 DL traded for two players and two pick, Vinny could never have done this.

Listening to WTOP DC Radio - the reporter said that was very good at "blocking in the backfield." The reporter insinuated that that was the purpose for aquiring him - third down back.skinsfan#33 wrote:I wonder if the condition is weather or not he makes the team.1niksder wrote:It was a conditional late-round pick

I like this deal. It adds a young player to the mix, who has something to prove and does not have a large contract. Bradshaw would have expected to be given the starting job and starting money.
Hightower has good hands, blocking skills and averaged 4.8 YPC last year. I remember his rookie season when he basically took playing time away from Edgerrin James. He looked good from what I saw.

Rumor going around that Holliday will not report to Arizona.
He should know that. Lord knows I wouldn't want the Skins to get bamboozled or hoodwinked :lol:From the NFL: If Vonnie does not report to the Cards, he would be subject to a fine under the terms of the CBA.
It does kind of suck for Holliday. To be the player rep and deal with all the BS through the whole lock-out. Then get traded away right after the NFL resumes work again.1niksder wrote:Hold the phone.......

From a technical standpoint, I like the Hightower deal. But Holliday is a good veteran leader and seem to contribute nicely to this defense last season.
