Browns clean house, cut six veterans

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Browns clean house, cut six veterans

Post by andyjens89 »

The Browns cut six veterans, which include tight end Robert Royal, offensive tackle John St. Clair, defensive linemen Shaun Rogers and Kenyon Coleman and linebackers David Bowens and Eric Barton.

Hmm.. I know some of these guys are old, but Shaun Rogers could be a good nose tackle to look at. I know he has some off field issues, but he can dominate on the field.

I'd rather try and get Mr. Rogers.

I'm more hopeful that we do even more - that is, cut a lot of older guys and anyone that's not shown an incedible desire to help himself and this franchise

If we're adding players they better be young OR a whole lot better than what we've already got - NOT that that's very hard to do

we need to continue to get rid of the "dead wood"
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

UPDATE: Jay Glazer of Fox Sports has reported that the Washington Redskins have reached out to Shaun Rogers, and a visit could occur as soon as Friday, according to sources close to the player.

A Rogers signing would certainly help the 'Skins say goodbye to Albert Haynesworth this offseason.

I wouldn't count on him signing with the Skins (Wouldn't mind having him though).

1. We are not going to throw big money at him.

2. He is from Texas and his former Brown DC, Rob Ryan, is the DC of the Cowboys ( he would be a back up and wouldn't get a big contract here) and Houston Texans will be looking for a NT as well (Definitely a potential starting job for him here - BINGO - he was born in Houston).

I am sure there are some other teams that might be willing to pay him more than us. My bet is he will visit just like Karlos Dansby and Joey Porter did with the Redskins saying this is our offer, you are welcome to go and shop. On another note, wasn't Grossman the only one who came back after getting that spill?
