That was good to read. Thanks for the post. I have a feeling that Gibbs and William talked to Lavar and Lavar saw the light. This defense is going to based around the skills of the players and use there natural skill to make this defense productive. Gibbs has a way to calm players down.

"The more I think about it, and the more I just look around, I really don't want to be anywhere else," Arrington said. "I really love the fans. For $6.5 million, it's not worth my relationship with the fans. I don't want that to be the legacy that I leave behind. I really want to reconcile whatever differences there are."
Wow! How many NFL players today would say that. I just figured out who my favorite player is.

If LA was interested in saying the right thing, he succeeded. I'm not sure how important we are as fans, but it must be worth something because Lavar clearly wants to maintain that relationship.
This contract dispute has been an uncomfortable situation, but these kinds of words from Lavar ease the tension. Nice job, young man. He endears himself to the fans with his play, and now this. If he wants to be appreciated, I know he is by me, at least.

I bet once he saw the 11 man blitz he realized we're playing REAL football this year

I bet he made up his mind Thursday night when he actually heard Gibbs speak at his first team meeting - he looked around and saw what was happening and then saw it again the next day on the field.
Gibbs did all his talking on the field. When asked about had he discussed it with LA - he said no. When asked if he and LA would be talking about it, he said maybe in the next few days.
Trust me - LA knows a winning attitude, especially after seeing the difference between a Gibbs mini camp and a Spurrier training camp. He made several comments about it very openly and it seemed he was impressed.
I am telling y'all - Gibbs is the difference maker. You can't see it right now, but the guys who grew up watching this can tell ya. There were people who took less money to play for this man. Why not a kid who is frustrated with the lack of success - now he sees a winner and doesn't wanna be a Bailey leaving at the wrong time.
The fan statement - in my opinion - is a face saver for him... and it makes him look better for us. Frankly I don't care why he gets off his ill positioned grievance - as long as he does. Gibbs was right when he said he hadn't known any great players who were all about money once they hit the field.

unfortunately - there was a no comment from the Snyder side... BUT I have a feeling that there were hot phone lines between the two - you know Snyder hates telling the press anything after they have torn his liver out for five years

the ball is in synders court now. lavar knows now what joe gibbs is all about first hand and just the thought of that gives me chills down my spine all over again with what has transpired during these last 3 days tells lavar that something special is about to happen around here.
lavar now sees what we have seen before and glad to see it return.
i guess that thursday night team meeting hit him the right way.synder lets make a deal.

I think they said that Snyder is out of country and can't be reached for comment. But the owners meeting in Miami starts tomorrow, so I'm sure he can be reached then.

Over the last two weeks, Lavar said all the wrong things.
Now, he's saying the right things. What changed with the contract? Nothing.
Maybe somebody pointed out to him how foolish he was going to look when the arbitrator told him his case was without merit?
But . . . he didn't say anything about dropping the matter outright that I read. Snyder won't back down on this and meet Lavar halfway. He can't or every player will start pulling this kind of deal as leverage.
What Lavar can do now is follow Smoot's lead and fire the Postons.
