In Honor of Veteran's Day, I am grateful for your dedication and service to God, country, family.

My brother, SGM Amargo, is currently serving with the California National Guard in Iraq. Be safe. God speed.

As a first-generation-born American in my family, growing up, I only thought of Veteran's Day as another day off from school, college, and then from work. My family and I knew not the importance of U.S. Holidays.

As I've grown older, I've also learned more and more about the sacrifices made by our servicemen and women.

I appreciate more what they gave up so that I could grow from ignorance to appreciation & gratitude, at my own pace.

Veterans, thank you for protecting my freedom to go through the transition in my awareness of your selflessness at my own pace. I'm a better man for it, and with the deepest sentiment, I say, again, thank you.

Blessings to you and your families on this special day, and always. It's a honor to salute you.

I also thank the past, present, and future service members that have sacrifice and continue to do so on our behalf.

On a related note, I have two friends who have deployed to hotzones (Saudi and Iraq) in the past 48 hours alone. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Saudi allows the Taliban to operate within its borders. With Americans there, it's considered a hotzone. I don't make the rules...but he was told to brush up on his h2h skills.

^ Yes... JSPB... it may not be official... and, despite State Department claims otherwise, but Saudi, while an "ally" is NOT a friendly place for a US military member to be stationed. There have been casualties from terror there before, and I have no doubt, there will be again, because the House of Saud insists on playing on both sides of the fence.

I know all that about the Saudis (Mecca is located on Saudi soil after all), but I didn't realize it was considered a hot zone.

Thanks Vet, Trey and all others who have served. My brother's a Navy Academy Grad and my cousin is a dog handler in the Air Force. Both were in the First Gulf War, so I have some idea what a commitment it is. I say some because I really doubt anyone who hasn't served really understands.

In your honor, I won't be obnoxious all day. Um...by all day I mean going forward since I can't undo the past. And by forward, I mean I'll do the best I can...

Er...I need a lawyer for this one... :-k

A particular salute to those THN members who have served during the current wars. Some I don't know about, but a few I know: Redskin Dan v1978 (my son), VetSkinsFan, ATX, for instance. I still wear ACU tee-shirts most work days...keeps everyone in uniform close to my heart.
