Campbell yanked

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Campbell yanked

Post by oneman56 »

looks like J. Campbell has been benched by Cable. Wonder if he loses his job for the year to Gradkowski?

Doesn't surprise me. He should have been benched when he was with us. I'm just glad that we don't have to deal with him

Same old Jason Campbell. Great guy, but just doesn't have what it takes to be a good NFL QB. Wasn't Al Davis comparing him to Plunkett after he got him? Good one Al.

They say you don't lose your job to injury....

He just needs to see a specialist to get his quarterbacking fixed.

He probably won't need one. A guy like Campbell can play in this league for the next eight years as a backup (like Patrick Ramsey). If he's been smart with his money at all, his NFL career — such as it is — will set him for life.

I feel for ya Jason. But I think Zorny has something to do with how JC plays, If you get a chance, watch the ravens. Flacco is showing the same symptoms of Campbellism, slow read, reciever lock on, missing open guys, no pre/post snap adjustment. No, I'm not a ravens fan, but it was either that or watch the cowboy game.

I won't say I told you so ..... ok ... I will

I said during training camp that the Raiders would not be patient with Campbell like the Skins were, and I predicted that he would lose his job to Gradowski or Boller before mid-season.

And all this talk about Oakland's o-line AGAIN ... but Gradowski led them to two consecutive scores with the same one Jason was playing with ... sound familiar? (2007)?

One look at the Redskins now, with McNabb (still digesting a new offense) and you see Moss looking like the Moss of 2005 ..... I told everyone that Moss still had plenty left in the tank, and needed only a QB who could get him the ball.

Sure, the Redskin pass pro is better this year than last ... but to say that this o-line is responsible for McNabb's success would be ridiculous. Right now this group couldn't run block my Grand Mother ... all during preseason and so far the regular season, this group has looked TERRIBLE ... so, with NO RUNNING GAME ... McNabb puts up 427 yards in the air?

The real change that has occurred is that McNabb quickly finds an open guy and get's rid of the ball, which circumvents the pass rush to a much greater degree .... put Campbell behind this line ... with no running game like he enjoyed when Portis was picking up 130 yards a game, and many would be saying that this o-line is the worst one over the past several years ... it certainly is insofar as run blocking is concerned ... and I'd bet the sacks and fumbles would emerge if Campbell was back there holding the ball for an extra 2 seconds each play.

McNabb's ability to find the open guy ... his ability to hit those longer throws keeps opposing defenses from blitzing the daylights out of the Redskins ... they have to play a little more conservatively when the QB has the ability to punish them deep, and also shows the ability to roll away from the rush instead of rolling into it.

This all helps give the appearance of better pass pro, while a poor QB can make an o-line look worse than it actually is.

I understand, I meant it more tongue in cheek. I think he actually could be a good backup once he makes the mental adjustment that he's not going to be a starter. He's a good guy with a good attitude. He also practices well, which is a good attribute in a backup to rest the starter's arm and lead the scout team. He can also come in and do some handoffs if the starter gets his bell rung. It would suit him well.

Yeah, but by telegraphing, he's actually putting himself at a disadvantage.

Gradkowski replaced Jason Campbell last Sunday, and the Raiders went on to beat the St. Louis Rams 16-14. Gradkowski will practice with the starters and be under center against the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday, according to the source.
