Thomas and Kelly cut?
I've just read that Thomas and Kelly have been performing so poorly that they are both in danger of being cut. Galloway is supposedly running with the first team. Does anyone have any info on this. We seem to be in a heck of a mess. Will anyone else in the division be as weak as we are at wide receive.

They are probably busts and we should have been looking at other options as contingency plans.
If San Diego is going to go Cheapo on Jackson he needs to be brought in ASAP, for a first, or two seconds, or whatever. He is good and not old.
Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Galloway can still play. To a degree.

Jackson is not worth a 2nd, let alone two or a first!

Identify another way we get a good receiver. We could draft one. How did that work out? I'd much rather give up a pick for one i know is good.

I prefer someone not starting the season suspended for his 2nd DUI.

Galloway's last 2 years: 20 catches for 205 yards & no TD's. His tank is empty.

If you pass on every WR that has character concerns you are passing on 95% of all good wr's. Everybody used to think Harrison was the only good one, and he's probably a murderer. So I mean really.

This is beyond caracter. DUI is a crime.

Jackson is just another Haynesworth, but not as good. We don't need him. With McNabb, Kyle's System and the new OLine, we will do just fine with the guys we have. We will need to keep looking thru the draft though. I expect next seasons draft will be all about QB, RB and WR...

Jackson is on his 2nd DUI. If he get's another, he's suspended for a season. Does it make a lot of sense to #1 - have to give up at a minimum a 1st rd pick for the guy, #2 - give him a huge contract (he wants to be the highest paid WR in the NFL) with risk of him not playing for you in one of those seasons and #3 - he's really only had one good season with a QB who's one of the best in the NFL.
No thanks. I'm tired of overpaying for talent that other teams develop. I say keep trying until we get it right. Rome wasn't built in a day so lets keep working with Thomas and Kelly who I feel can be weapons if used correctly to feature their skillsets.

I think Thomas will be fine. I seen flashes of brillance last year. With that Oline we had last year. How can we really judge our receivers? It will come down to Mcnabb and who he trusts throwing to.
Malcom Kelly on the other hand? The few moments he stepped on the field he squandered most every oppurtunity he received. So I do hope he improves but I am not confident he makes it.

It sounds like our version of the "west-coast" offense will be...
Heavy doses of running the ball
McNabb hitting TEs short and down the middle
McNabb hitting a RB out of the backfield
McNabb rolling out and hitting anyone who has broken free
And occasionally, to keep the defense honest...
McNabb heaving to fast guys down the field...
We have two fast guys in Moss and Thomas, they'll do well this year. Not sure possession WRs are absolutely critical as we have
ey and Davis.
Remember, the Eagles did pretty darn well over McNabb's early years with an okay TE in JT Smith. Westbrook out of the backfield and a bunch of marginal WRs, e.g., short-armed Pinkston, always talking Mitchell, a super #3 or #4 WR Thrash (as their #1!!), etc...

Maybe the gauge is busted. If he's running with the first team with no fuel, he's fooling a lot of very smart people. Let's just be thankful it wasn't Ike Hilliard.

Jackson is not another Haynesworth. Haynesworth is an elite player with character issues. Jackson is an average player with character issues, but AH isn't a blue light away from being suspended for the year.

If you are drinking and driving, you are not reputable, you are dangerous. You might as well walk around randomly firing a pistol.
With the Cardinals reaching the Super Bowl, is Dan Snyder officially the worst owner in the league?

...and that sets you up as a receiver for the Giants, short term.

which is pretty much what i was saying, aside from the league troubles...

I say that Kelly and Thomas have to prove that they are two of the top three WRs on the team before they get much playing time. Even more, they have to rove, really, that they deserve to play.
It is not enough that they were second round draft choices. Not even close to enough.
Perspective: way back in Joe Gibbs II 1st season, the Skins had a pair of WR known to this board as "Mr 50/50" and "Mr Toe". Both complained to reporters that Gibbs would not take their advice on offensive strategy. (Note that Gary Clark never presumed to coach Coach Gibbs).
Next year, both were gone, and even though the Redskins never found a WR to pair off with Santana Moss, they made they playoffs two of the next three seasons.
Gibbs never publicly criticized the Two Misters...he just made them gone.
Perhaps Shanahan is a serious coach, and he's just doing what serious coaches do?
[Oh, and hello again! It's been baseball season, and Washington fans pay attention to the Senators/Nats while keeping an eye on the Skins as training camp starts up. It was not until we were Shorted in 1971 that the Redskins became a year-round obsession.]
