Who was biggest Redskins BUST.....?

Post by tribeofjudah »

Ok, perhaps this is a rehash of past threads.....I don't know.

But who was/is the biggest bust? In terms of money, talent, contract, etc.....

Please share your thoughts.......

Shuler because he was an early 1st round pick. Most of the others just cost cash.

Shuler at least made the team. Anyone remember Andre Johnson?? A first round pick out of Penn State who, if memory serves me correctly, didn't even make the team!!

B. Lloyd for the cash AND picks given up. Or how about TJ Duckett or Jason Taylor or Jim Zorn?

Archuleta. There was so much hype and at the time it was the biggest contract for a safety.

Big Al's still on the team so it's kinda stupid to have him in this poll when his legacy isn't complete yet. I know he's hated, but come on...

Shuler is, by far, the biggest bust I can remember the redskins ever having. He should have been Peyton Manning before there was a Peyton Manning.

I voted for B. Lloyd, but you guys are probably right about Shuler. Its just been so long I can't really even remember how bad he was. I had to look at his wiki page where it reminded me that he once threw 5 interceptions in a game against Arizona. Ouch.

from Wiki on Andre Johnson:

In his NFL career he only played three games, each for the Lions and is usually considered to be one of the worst first round picks of all time.

So does that reflect more badly on the GM who drafted him or the player himself?

If it were this most recent decade, it would reflect on Snyder/Cerrato

For that time period; well nobody is gonna blame Casserly...real GM's don't make those kinds of mistakes.

That would be 1967 Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Gary Beban (he won the award OVER OJ Simpson)

Biggest Bust EVER.

'course, he was sitting behind the best pure passer in NFL history...

Andre Johnson was a huge disapointment BUT he did not 'hurt' the franchise as much as not having the quality of play we expected to get from the QB position - Heath Shuler was not as big a bust MAYBE but he hurt this franchise a lot more by not becoming the QB we expected IMO

I did not arrive in the US until 1970
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Very good patjam77. I was going to mention him but you beat me to it. Unfortunately I'm a Penn State fan, so I always remember this pick... How about some others:

I'ma go with Heath Shuler as being the biggest bust in Skins history. At least kinda recent history.

B. Lloyd was a huge bust too.

And I hated the whole Jason Taylor thing.

Oh and if memory serves me correct Petitbon had a horrible team in a rookie season as a HC, and the FO let him go after one year. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

That was what, 1994? I was like 11 lol....and I remember that year.

Petitbon was a heck of a positions coach and D. Coordinator though.... he just couldn't get it done with all the reigns.

Shuler was bad, but how can any signing ever be worse than Deion?! And nobody even mentioned Desmond Howard...
