WR Antonio Bryant + WR Coach

Post by Gibbs4Life »

TAMPA — The Bucs might be planning to part ways with WR coach Richard Mann after eight seasons.

Mann, who served as an assistant head coach to Raheem Morris, received permission to interview with an undisclosed NFL team. Mann does not have a contract for 2010, and his deal with the Bucs expires in February.

Several NFL teams are formulating coaching staffs, including the Redskins. Mann is a favorite of former Bucs general manager Bruce Allen, now Redskins GM.

The loss of Mann could have a significant impact on the Bucs' ability to re-sign WR Antonio Bryant, an unrestricted free agent.

Bryant has a close relationship with Mann, who has served as a mentor to the Bucs' No. 1 receiver.

Bryant, who was hampered by a knee injury in 2009, listed two main factors for wanting to re-sign.

"My biggest motivator is my position coach," Bryant said of Mann a few weeks ago, "and (QB) Josh Freeman."

Looks like Richard Mann is our new Mann at WR Coach. Also Bryant seems to have a strong admiration for him; I like Bryant's size and skill set and he's definately cheaper than BMarsh.

I think we have enough Wideouts here..I would probsbly draft one in the late rounds..as a project. I would rather spend money on other positions that we need more. I would take the coach, but at the same time, I am sure that with Shanahan as a coach our recievers will get better and surprise people next year. Remember the Royal, the hokie!, played great under Shanahan...and others did too. I expext great things from Thomas, KElly and Mitchel!!! Moss will be our number still.

PFT talked about this too... http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/01/14/bryant-could-follow-mann-out-of-tampa-bay/

I think this would be a good move, Bryant seems like a solid player that would help this offense. Moss is not a #1 reciever anymore, but he can still play. D. Thomas has stepped up his game, but still needs work. A 3 reciever set with Bryant, Thomas, and Moss out there would be dangerous, one of them will be open. Of course addressing the O-line should come first.

2010 will be uncapped. Money is no object, and since he is going to be an UFA, signing him would cost us nothing in the way fo draft picks. If Shanny thinks he can help the team, I say go for it.

Although I like Bryant's size and ability, he is older and showed that he still has attitude problems in Tampa. I say we give Marko Mitchell a chance, I think out of the young wide-outs we have, he has the most upside.

Not sure if any of you seen the guy play but he has reaaaally good hands. Obviously he never really had a good QB to toss it to him but he is pretty consistent with his catches. Moss/Thomas/Kelly but are we getting rid of ARE? Personally I hope so and bringing in AB would be a step up IMO. However I'm not sure if he returned punts but i'm sure we can find someone to do that not necessarily has to be him ya know?

Randle El and Moss are too small.

We need Brandon Marshall and Antonio Bryant and Anquan Boldin

While I may agree with you, Shanny is the coach, and he'll be the one making the decision.
