Ganther to be the top RB for Skins....

Post by tribeofjudah »

Did anyone else catch Chick Hernandez or KJ on Comcast saying that Ganther is going to take more carries than Rock? Rock is a bit upset about this development for sure...

Coach Sherm Smith said something like this: "this is not about what Rock want".... I heard Sherm say it on Comcast. It's about what the team need and what gives us a better chance at winning (or something to that effect)

Wow...Rock being "demoted"......... why hasn't anyone else written up on this???

Sorry, don't have a link.

As I'm sure a lot of fans know I'm not Rock's biggest fan. He has though done a great job in the past few games.

I agree with the decision to throw Ganther up there to the starter. He's younger and we may be looking for our guy next year. From what I have seen both Ganther and Rock are doing a great job, I just have the feeling we are looking into next year with this move.

and what the hell does Lewis have to do with who runs the ball - he's not involved with the run game .... or is he?
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Rock is solid. Not flashy, not fast but solid, he gets what he can and is always around the ball at spec teams. He should understand that this is an evaluation for ganther. We all know what Rock can do. :)

I am not trying to be a smart ass, but he does call the offensive plays. Do you see any relation in how he can affect who runs the ball? :D

There is no mention of Lewis on this Thread....it's Sherm Smith that is mentioned....

Here is the interview link with Sherm Smith.

On the Video Center....scroll down past D. Hall and Look for part 2 with KJ and Sherm and go to about 4:35 of the interview.

I only have one question:

Who is the freaking HC in this team???
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

Whoever calls the run plays should have a say in who's running the ball in the presence of RB by committee.

RIP #21 Sean Taylor. You will be loved and adored by Redskins fans forever!!!!!

I hope this is true, Rock has done a great job, but Ganther just looks and plays like more of a #1 RB. I still think they both should share reps and be a 1,2 punch. Throw Mason in there for a change every once in a while, its been working well, and I think it will get better with Ganther getting the most significant amount of carries.

I think mixing up the play calls on 1st and 2nd down will help out all the RB's a lot. We saw last week throwing on 1st and 2nd down produced good results. Change it up and see success. I think that the Redskins organization should keep Rock as the #1 because the guy has worked for the opportunity and is a team leader. He's truly the heart and soul of the team.

no worries - I was mistaken

as much as I like what has happened offensively, I am very hopeful that we can get some offensive guys in here next year that know what they are doing - there is no way that Sherm Lewis is still an effective play caller in the NFL - the only thing good about what we are doing now is because the play calling and execution was so bad before

I must admit that it would be a bonus if we found that Ganther could be a contributor

Campbell appears to be developing some good chemistry with Fred Davis in the redzone & is hooking up with several WRs much to my delight.

We need to see something positive from JC bc if the Skins's start over without rebuilding their line and choose to start Colt Brennan or draft a young rookie QB we will be years away from a playoff contender.

At 3-9 this season is just about auditions for next year's young roster hopefuls.

So if Quinton is in consideration for sharing some reps with Portis in the coaching staff's eyes than I can deal with their reasoning.

But forgive me for doubting the current brain trust from doing anything that will bring cohesion to the mess of excuses and inability to finish out games that were won everywhere but the scoreboard.
