I'm deeply moved by the tragedy at Fort Hood. Not lost in the madness is service members are required to attend "decompression" upon returning from deployment. Imagine how members returning from deployment who truly need treatment must feel now fearing endangerment within this "safe" environment. This makes me ill...

After listening several interviews and the General...it seems that there could have been warning signs...

It's MY OPINION that someone with his political views is not the right person to help service members recover mentally from the jaggedness of war. He had polar opposite views of our presence there, anyway...according to the interviews...

God bless the survivors and their family members...

That he has an Arabic name can't be helping the situation.

My thoughts are with the Fort Hood/Kileen community. As usual, the press is postulating and spectulating. I wish they'd report just the facts.

I can only imagine the special pain of the Hospital chain of command, and the Chief of Psychiatry at Darnall Army Community Hospital. They will remain in my thoughts, along with the victims and their families.

I can't believe the perpetrator was: a major, a psychiatrist or could possibly commit this crime on a military base. I hope his middle eastern sounding name doesn't lead to more Muslim-American retaliation related violence, because this guy was born in the US and his parents are from Jordan... hardly a hotbed of terrorist activities.

It's such a terrible tragedy but at least it seems like this guy will get what he deserves. Most mass murderers like this commit a convenient suicide. Not him.

I see, so he's not a "Muslim" he just has an "Arabic name?" Another Muslim just murdered a bunch of innocent people, what a coincidence! Too bad about that coincidence, it's sure "not going to help." Clearly though it's an independent event with no connection to the rest of the terrorists in the world who also just out of pure coincidence happen to be "Muslim."

Ironically we're screwed because while the Republicans obsess on the issue and Democrats are in deep denial over the issue and their own responsibility in inflaming the situation, then both have the same solution. Meddling in business that isn't ours creating enemies we don't need to have and then either fighting them or playing Ostrich.

That's my rant for today. OK, well not the only one, but one of them for the day. Look, a dog with a big fluffy tail, here doggy, here doggy.

I didn't know he was a Muslim when I posted that comment. But I don't see how that changes the point I was making. You can make political hay out of anything, Kaz.

Can't we just agree that this was a tragedy, and we should be mourning the dead right now?

Got it. The modern Left is so enlightened, I'm learning so much. A Muslim extremist shoots dozens of American troops going to fight a war against Muslim extremists in the Middle East and my discussing that is making "political hay" out of it. That's what we should have done when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor, just proceed with "mourning our dead" and not discuss that the Germans did it. Being political hay and all. I understand now. OK I don't, at least not for a few more Vodkas.

What a horrific tragedy. My thoughts and prayers to the service members and their families.
People may not remember exactly what you did
or what you said....

~BUT~
they will ALWAYS remember how you made them feel.

Dover, Del. -
A U.S.; Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircraft will arrive at Dover Air Force Base the night of Nov. 6 with the remains of 12 U.S. Army soldiers and one U.S. Army civilian employee killed Nov. 5 during a gunman's rampage at Fort Hood, Texas.

Upon arrival the bodies will be transported to the Air Force Mortuary Operations Center.

The families of the Fort Hood servicemen have not authorized media coverage and media access to the base will be restricted.

A forensic investigation, including a complete autopsy, will be performed by the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology’s Office of the Armed Forces Medical Examiner. The autopsy results will be made available to the appropriate federal agencies active in the ongoing investigation into the shooting.

Army Casualty and Mortuary Affairs Operations is working closely with affected families to determine their wishes regarding final preparation of their loved ones remains.
