LaVar interview

Post by Redskins1974 »

Ok - I love LaVar but this is just a little odd (I'm not making this up):

Redskins linebacker LaVar Arrington appeared on the James Brown Show on Sporting News Radio to discuss the missing $6.5 million roster bonus he says the team agreed to but then didn't ultimately include in his contract.

Arrington said he agreed to a deal, which included the $6.5 million bonus, but the deal then featured three sixes in the numbers, which, as a Christian man, he couldn't sign because that's the mark of the devil. And Arrington said he brought this "devil" problem up to the Redskins, which he says proves his case that the $6.5 million was agreed to by the team because, without the $6.5 million included, the contract would not have featured the three sixes.
The opinion of 10,000 men is of no value if none of them know anything about the subject.

This is not the stuff we are used to hearing from our players/front office.

Snyder....Lavar....shut up and fix this problem. Come to an agreement for the sake of the fans. I thought we had more class than this.

I bet Redskins One picks up Jerry Springer to come to Redskins Park as a mediator.

This is going to get real ugly, how long before Lavar asks for a trade?

That is the most bizarre complaint ever.... hey LaVar, Ill take one of those sixes off your hands.

This is really sad. I hope they can resolve things before the season - we don't need a vocal leader like Lavar turning sour/effecting the locker room and on field performance.

I hear you on that. However, I'm not one to stick up for Snyder but Lavar's agent isn't a saint in this transaction either. I initialled every page and signed the dotted line when buying my house. Legally, that contract stands up in court - I can't go back now and pull something like his agents doing. It's up to the agent and his attorney's to work out the details as well.

That said, Snyder definitely has to stop craping where he eats.

What if when you bought your home it had a porch in the back...and now you have signed the papers to buy the house...the family who lived there tore down the porch.

Would you be upset?

If the porch wasn't in the contract there wouldn't be much you could do about it.

SirSmizzy what these redskin fans need to learn about is Karma....This is just my beliefs Gentlemen Daniel Synder made his big bucks by being an evil genious behind peoples back.....having people sitting in there cubes fearing for there jobs because of slow production...All his shading business deals are coming back on him...and too bad the Fans are getting the worst of it. .....He gets the one thing he loved as a kid and he cannt get it to run right.

That's why I hired a home inspector and settlement attorney to represent me. Just like Lavar hired an agent and his attorney's to make sure everything's in place prior to accepting the monetary trasaction. If that something is missing that was in the contract, it would of been replaced or money put in escrow. If it wasn't in the contract that I initialled and signed, whoops, there's nothing I can do about it. That's the importance of double checking everything before signing and especially double checking when contracts are being faxed back and forth. Snyder's at fault as Lavar's agent/attorney's...

It would be to the best interest of everyone for both sides to find a middle ground and make a deal. This is bad publicity for the Redskins (something Snyder as a business man should want to avoid), and doesn't reflect well on Lavar or his agent.

We have a lot as fans to look forward to this season and this kind of distraction can not help with team unity. I can't see how this won't affect LA during the season, even if he is in the wrong, if he feels slighted then that is reality.

Make a deal DS and end this soap opera.

You fail to realize the riff this is causing between Lavar and the skins...

Do you think he will just eat this 6.5 and play happy for the skins?

I don't fail to realize anything. The thing I give Lavar a lot of credit for is once he steps on the field, it doesn't matter - he'll keep handing out licks. What you fail to realize is Gibbs' (and experienced staff) impact on players and creating a team atmosphere once training camp starts. This just needs to be resolved and it can be done in a positive light...

Perhaps I am blind to something here but I am not willing to concede anything more to LaVar. He is now the highest paid linebacker in the game without the benefit of being the best linebacker in the game. In fact, I would argue he isn't the second best or the third best for that matter. He isn't the type of a player who changes the game. I recognize that playing with a different defensive coordinator every year has probably stunted his development to some extent. But he's getting an MVP contract without playing like one and now he's whining to boot.
For the record, I am not suggesting that Snyder is above this type of thing. I'm just not ready to automatically assume Snyder screwed Arrington.

only thing i have to say about this is it better get done for both involved. just what we all need to keep hearing ,dan synder screwed over his player(s).

get it done-yo geepz what about your boy as they say on pti.
there are things about synder that still turn me the wrong way.the only deal i,ve like this whole offseason thus far is getting gibbs back but dan will find a way to screw this up.
get it done please one way or the other so both parties will benefit in the long run.

Let's see if the "I was offended by the 6.66 in the contract" argument holds up in front of an arbitrator. My guess is no. Has anyone considered the fact that the Skins would be insane to structure his contract in such a manner? Also, am I the only one who is put off by the "yes, I am making a boatload of money but I should be getting more" theme?

Alls I'm saying is Gibbs has a way with people and if Lavar wants to win a championship he better buy into the system once the season starts. If he doesn't buy into it (getting the 6.5 mil or not) than perhaps we should explore other options. He's one guy with a ton of potential. His potential got him the highest paid LB contract in the league and if he wants to ACTUALLY BECOME the best LB in the league, than he should shut up and play.

i agree...i think the way to settle this is that LA's agent should pay him 3.25 million and snyder should pay him 3.25 million..LA was trusting both sides to do there job and be fair and somewhere along the way something went wrong..this isnt good for our team to have to deal with now..we should be celebrating the return of our teams master Joe Gibbs..not comeing unwound because of someones oversight!!!!

Why can't Arrington go somewhere else and win a Super Bowl?

Try to take into consideration...YOU are the fan...Lavar is the employee.

He doesn't care about the skins like you do.

He wants his money...No coach or team is going to make him forget that.

If he believes Snyder shorted him 6.5...you better believe he will walk.
