US vs Brazil in FIFA Confederation Cup Final

Post by welch »

At 41 minutes, US leads 2 - 0.

Can this be????

("Color" announcer says, "When you come out and score goals it changes the game". Deep thought. Reinforces my thought that soccer-football announcers are the worst in sports. Thus, Scottish announcer Allie McCoist during 1998 World Cup game, says "Scotland have to take the ball down the wings and cross it and finish". )

That would be captain for life John Harkes, who in the closing minutes said, "if the US have a chance here they need to get the ball back"
Bruce has the authority. When Bruce makes the decision, it's a Redskins decision.

Nothing wrong with Ally McCoist's point whatsoever. He just meant that Scotland should play with more width rather than playing everything through the middle.
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom – for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

The US had a great Confederations tournament. I'm sure the team is disappointed with the finish, but they really played a great game today.

I really thought that the US was going to be able to play to a classic Italy-style win; score a few goals early, then just tighten up and play defense...and hit for another goal on a counter if you can.

But...there's a reason why only Italy has used that style for 4 World Cup victories, I guess...

Brazil is too talented for the US to lock them down. I knew it was over as soon as Brazil scored so quickly in the second half. Then when that goal was called a non-goal, I figured that was the wake-up call the Brazilians needed. To beat Spain and have a shot at knocking off the Brazilians in the same tournament is a pretty successful tourny for our boys.

BTW, I totally want a kaka jersey.

To go along with your Semin jersey, that would be an interesting collection.

I really think the best Brazilian name was a dude who played for them a few years ago. Yes, instead of choosing a name like Kaka, Robinho, Ronaldo, etc., his name...was Fred.

Yeah...Fred. That's a great jersey...
